My flowering light is only 400W so vegging under a HID would be a big waste of power. OD shoplights for vegging is where it's at. I use 2 of them and they make more than enough plant to fill the underneath of my 400. This is last week. I'll have new pics today.

I agree with you Buddy. If I was flowering under a 1000W then I would want to use a 400W for veg. The OD shoplights work great for vegging for a 400W. I want to see pic of your setup.
These were grown under 2 OD shoplights. Topped twice and exactly six weeks old. I can't even find enough room for them under the 400W HPS.
