help- autoflower and lights

i was wondering what type of t12 flouros would be needed for autoflowring strains since there is such a short veg stage what should the color spectrum be, and how much light is needed for several plants? would i even need to switch lights for diff k spectrums?
i know theres aquarium & plant- phospors produce light rich in red and blues, specially designed to promote growth and flowering, 1900 lumens daylight ? sunshine- full spectrum 5000k 2250 lumens
cfl will also be used, still unsure what warm white, bright white daylight is but any help would e great

Daylight= blue spectrum. Blue spectrum for veg. Warm white is red spectrum for flower. You said you were using auto-flowering plants. I am not gonna ask why. Just use the blue light until the plant stars flowering then switch over to the red.

Blue spectrum bulb is no where near worthless once flowering has begun. Higher K is warm and lower k is cool.

with autos there might not be any advantage to changing color temps. just keep them on 20+ hours a day.

If I were you I would go with T8's. A 2-bulb 4ft. T8 fixture at Walmart is only $10. And you can overdrive them. FTW.

Yo! Mista Greenthumb. I think he said "T12", bro. Can you really overdrive those lights?

He did say T12. I'm saying that the T8's are better for growing. More light and more efficient.
And YES. Overdriving is the SHIZ!!! You can veg for twice as long under them. See the difference?
Notice the overdriven light has 2 ballasts.

You say T8,s are better for growing. More light and more efficient. I just use HID's. I like your picture example. I see 2 light ballasts. One is brighter than the other. How do you overdrive the SHIZ?

My flowering light is only 400W so vegging under a HID would be a big waste of power. OD shoplights for vegging is where it's at. I use 2 of them and they make more than enough plant to fill the underneath of my 400. This is last week. I'll have new pics today.

For you. Yeah. Being that your flowering light is only 400 watts. I prefer HID's. I like 400 watts for vegetative growth. More light intensity makes for a more robust and slightly quicker growing plant. Then flower with 600 watts. Now for a power grow. Think about vegging under 600 watts then flower under 1000 watts. I don't really like using for vegetative growth. Like I said, not enough light intensity. Fluorescents are excellent for rooting clones. How old are those plants in that picture? Something for you too consider. Check into 250watt HID's. Initial lumen output= 2100-2300 lumens. The light will stay more intense the further it travels from the light source.

I agree with you Buddy. If I was flowering under a 1000W then I would want to use a 400W for veg. The OD shoplights work great for vegging for a 400W. I want to see pic of your setup.
These were grown under 2 OD shoplights. Topped twice and exactly six weeks old. I can't even find enough room for them under the 400W HPS.

Oh.... They don't work that great for vegging but they do work. More importantly, They work for you. Your plants look well cared for, young Jedi. Just scrawny.. Due to less light intensity.

knee high plants with finger thick stalks, scrawny? they look great to me, node length is not super tight but very good, leaves are healthy and none of the stems are saggy or bent I don't really see what you mean by scrawny.

I am not saying anything negative here. Just having a discussion with Mista Greenthumb about light intensity and the affects it has on vegging marijuana. I said they looked well cared for. If you don't see what I mean by "scrawny", that is not my fault but the fault of your own inexperience. You should try this. Veg you some plants. Half under fluorescents and the other half under an HID. Side by side or one at a time. See for your self then take notes.

I have a plant under CFL's and it's anything but scrawny and my brain tells me stem thickness is more genetic nutrient and environment(wind) based then light based. I am no expert though and my intent was not to call you out, I just want to know what about those plants is scrawny. If it can't be quantified in a worded reply maybe it's more of an opinion then fact.

No one is arguing your point Buddy. Of course HID's grow bigger plants. No one is arguing that.
I have 1 400W HPS, therefore I can't use it for veg., because other plants were flowering under it.
I believe main stem thickness has everything to do with wind like pha3r0 said. I'll admit that they never got enough breeze. That's because the closet was so packed full of plant. It was packed so full of plant because of my kick ass OD shoplights.
Buddy, personally I think you need to post some pics of your great HID grows before you start criticizing the grows of others members who have been posting here for a while. Feel free to give all the advice you want but before you start labeling other members grows (scrawny, huh?) you need to post one of your own.
I'm actually very pleased with the results and these are the strongest plants that I've grown yet. I'll admit how crappy they are as soon as you post pics of your beefy plants.
