 How to wire a fluorescent lighting fixture?

Hello everyone,
I've just purchased 8 lighting fixtures and I need help wiring them up. My question is more specifically, how do you connect your power wires to the fixture? There is a place to stick the wires into (and this works), but they can be easily pulled out. It just doesn't seem right / safe.
I can post pictures if needed.

OK.
Now I have 3 (will be 4) single-lamp fixtures next to each other and I want to wire them up together. Is it possible that the included ballast would be able to power all 3 lamps?
