I'm writing up an article about it so I gotta test it and I must say I might be switching from Ubuntu in the next 6 months if this distro keeps improving at the speed it is

Ubuntu will always stay ahead of the curve. There are more powerful ones definitely for sure, Slackware for one, but its very difficult to use.
Ubuntu is becoming more plug n play for non-advanced users, however, if you are good with the Linux console then you should have no trouble with the ones that require more handson configuration.
I haven't tried mint yet...Open suse, fedora, and ubuntu are all my favorites. Mint is based off Ubuntu so I mean...It's basically Ubuntu with a few minor changes.
My newest favorite is:
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mythbuntu
I'm setting it up as we speak. Having a little trouble with my hardware, but can't wait.

Windows is a great OS minus stability, security and possibility for customization and you almost never have to fuck with CMD
Ubuntu is not for "non-advanced users" IMO it's for Regular Users. People who do standard email, web browsing, printing and what ever the hell else my gramma used to do one the computer.
Mint is nice. I really think the improvements they are making is going to be the New Notch Standard (Basic user friendly notch)
Look out ubuntu!

Well, yea I guess I didn't mean that...Linux if for advanced users bottom line, but I guess I meant it's for the basic Linux users...Who can work with the console, and intend to use it like windows.
Ubuntu is also very powerful...Any linux os is very powerful.

I love mythbuntu. I haven't tried mint yet. I used to use gentoo until the lead developer left, when it went down hill. I have been using ubuntu on a couple of my machines and its not bad, but a bit too simplistic.

Fedora 9 & 10 lost me with the shoddy ATI support.
Ubuntu and Xubuntu have been my main Linux horses.
Unfortunately I still need Adobe Suite apps on the daily and WINE just doesn't make the cut in that case.
I'm missing OS X, Windows is fine but it lacks any polish. Ubuntu imo is well on it's way to surpassing Vista. No it's not even close yet, but it's still moving at an exponentially faster rate.
MS will probably continue to leech ideas and poorly implement them (see new KDE features vs Windows 7)

I'm running peppermint Ice , it's fast but doesn't support the older ATI x300 card... It still runs decently fast and it's been a good workhorse. IMHO faster than windows for my needs even without the 3d support.
I've tried older versions of MINT that still support this card I think its 5 or 6 it ran pretty good but since I had peppermint ice working for me I haven't experimented much but it does suck on losing support for older hardware :S
I'm still looking for a live based distro that supports the older cards that is better than mint 5 or 6 ezKiel have you seen anything cool?

This thread is old as fuck homie.
But I ran Mint exclusively up until like 2 weeks ago. Now I dual boot it with Win7 because I want to play games and could never get wine to work for shit.

Why should that mean it isn't real?
