PO's grow questions.

Not wanting to do a full growlog yet. but i do have and will have some questions on the way.
Stone and hawk have been helpin me a bit so far (thanks bros)
question 1:
This train wreck seedling is really purple under the leaves (top of leaf is normal green)... my skunk47's and kush dont seem to be showing the same color change.
Would this be genetics or because its too cold (its in a semi cold basement and its been -30 outside for last few weeks). They all look healthy so far, just a lil weird to see so much purple on a seedling.
question 2:
Im looking for nute recommendations. Something good for vegging (moms), and maybe something for flowering. Ill be ordering in ebay so i can prob find almost anything available
Whats a good all purpose one? im guessin different nutes are needed for flowering.

Cold could have something to do to with it as I know they tend to turn purple in cold weather. The others might just be heartier so maybe thats why they didn't turn purple.
As for nutes I recommend pure blend pro grow and bloom. It's nice because they are both "all in one" and it's hard to burn the plants with them I have been told.

That's a good deal and has a lot of the additives that you'd want, esp the silica blast. I paid way more for my basic grow/bloom/micro trio.

question 3:
any huge advantage in ordering an aeroponic cloner machine , vs using rockwool cubes under a dome + heating pad. (with cloning gel)
Seems like the cloner machines are much more $$$, but do they really do that much better. Would the average grower do ok with rockwool cubes and a dome? (then transfer to soil once they are rooted)
Question 4:
The location of this grow is in a basement. but the upstars has many house plants. The house plants have the odd tiny flys buzzin around them (size of a fruit fly) They must be living in the soil. The plants are growing fine the fly's don't seem to bug them at all.
Should we be a worried for the other plants? Any idea what pest these are?
The owner of the house (im using the basement). bought "schultz" insect spray "contains botanical insecticide derived from the pyrethrin daisy". Do you think this spray will do much? should he spray his house plant soil with it and maybe hang some sticky fly traps so they dont go downstairs?

1) Yes, very much so.
2) Fungus gnats. Get you some ladybugs. Fungus gnats are a ladybugs favorite food. You should be concerned that you will infest your garden in the basement with the gnats which would easily be introduced into the basement by catching a ride on your clothes or catching a ride n your pet's fur (if you have a pet). Eventually the gnats will find their way down to the fresh ripe, nutrient enrich growing medium in the basement on their own unless you eradicate their herd before you begin your garden in the basement.

Q1- Prob just a funky pheno. what are your temps. are they fluctuating much?
Q2-Botanicare is a great choice. that sarter pack is a good buy as well. How many plants are you growing? How large will your containers be? How long will you be vegging? Consider all of those factors (if you haven't already) so that you have an idea how much nutes you will actually need through out veg and flower. While that starter pack is a great buy, you may find that you run out of some of the additives mid way or at the tail end of veg/flower.
Q3- I've rooted in plugs, rockwool, peat pellets, and soil. If you don't over water them and have a well controlled environment you'll do fine, but personally I prefer my ezcloner. I find it easier and i notice that the clones take off much faster when they hit soil. In an ez cloner clones are able to grow a much larger root mass than in plugs/rockwool etc.
Q4- gnats are pretty harmless. unless you have an all out infestation. I hang sticky traps on all of my plants and also feed with sns 209 to keep the white flies at bay. It works really well

If fungus gnats end up infesting and begin breeding in your soil it's Big Trouble In Little China Town for your roots. I just say stomp the problem out and keep up the general maintenance required to keep pests in check before planting to further lessen any chance of pests, diseases and molds setting in.

I solved my major gnat problem by pouring boiling water into my pot before I transplant. Never had to with ffof just outdoor soils like kelloggs.

-Well that trainwreck went back to normal green. so thats good. Looked cool for a bit tho
-All the house plants have been isolated in a closet and we are using sticky traps and a insecticide . we haven't seen any in the basement area yet. so prob best we are doing this now before they spread downstairs
-I decided not to be so cheap... im ordering a ez cloner unit.
Question 5:
I bought ppm meter and ph tester (and + - ). So when it comes to water. its best i fill up a rubber maid and make sure my ppm and ph is good then just use that for watering, correct?
Any link or posts i can read more about water and water preparation ?
My well water is 640ppm's but our bottled water is like 5 ppm... Id like to know whats a normal ppm for JUST WATERING (no nutes yet). Can i mix my well water with distilled water till i get around 2-300 ppm? or is it best to keep it at low low ppm? and recommendations on a filters that i can use on my well water to lower the ppm?
Question 6:
So they are in dixie cups now..... i probably should cut small holes in the bottom of the cups so when i water it drains out and doesn't cause root rot, correct?

Go with the low PPM water. No point in tempting fate with the well water.

Ya. I let my water sit for a day or 2 to let it get to room temp and also bubble out chlorine. Where you've got a well it'd be a good idea to pick up an ro filter. 640 ppm is really fucking high! The amt of water you're gonna need to balence that out will be costly over time.
Growonix makes great quality Ro systems. Check them out

After you've mixed your nutrients and tested the PH is a good time to test your ppm's.
