grow tent too hot

So my new 1000w setup is keeping the tent around 100 degrees even with the 430cfm fan exhausting that heat through the hood. What the fuck? Do I seriously need an ac and a fan?

I'm guessing your fan isn't pulling enough air cause 465cfm seems low for a 1000w

Thanks dude! I wasn't sure where this topic would do best. Its a 4X4X6.5 Grow labs. Hood is 6" and its a 430cfm can fan ducting through the hood (glass still in place) straight out into the room so air flow should be pretty solid. Is my tent just not cut out for the power?

*ducting straight out into the room the tent is in of course not convection heating the thing.

Do certain bulb types or brands just produce more heat? With that small an area I might want a window ac and plumb it to the tent yeah? Or are there units small enough to not take up too much space?

Youre prolly gonna need an ac.
4x4x6.5 is a lil small for 1000w...id go with a 600 or get a bigger tent...or get an ac.
You could try those portable acs and duct it out a window or somethin? Sometimes theyre pricey though.

You need to vent that out a window or to another room or you are basically heating the room your tent is in with the warm exhaust coming from your tent.

hey im in the same boat as you dude, Im on my first grow and just put my plants into flowering room a couple weeks ago and I have two 1000 watt lights in it, but each light has its own 400cfm inline fan pulling air threw to cool. and I need a ac to help cool it down. Also when do your lights go on and off? I have my at night when its cooler.

yeah it was an impulse buy. This shop was selling all these 1000w kits for 180 cash. I had to. You think the heat would go down with a bigger area maybe only a few square feet? I'm low on space unless I want to turn my bedroom into a flower room. Which I'm not out ruling.

its a well ventilated room that has an open door and window and runs the same temp as the rest of the house. Its a bright ass bulb and can feel the heat on my arm like a sunburn.

yeah will be on a night schedule with them when this temp situation is addressed.

I think if you get a bigger tent you need one that is taller. If you get a wider one a few feet prolly wont make a big difference. Maybe a 6x6 would work. I personally like those gorilla tents that go to 7'11" tall.
Unless you get some ac you dont have a lot of growing room. If you only have 6.5' of height, think about how tall your reflector is, and how tall the containers are. Measure the distance from the lens of the reflector to the top of your containers and youre gonna see that you only have about 4' of plant space.
If youre saying you feel it on your arm like a sunburn, just imagine when your plants get tall.
Maybe try ditching the tent and just doin it in an open room?
Or get a 600w. Thats a hella deal you got but you need cooling.

No its not dimmable unfortunately. Yeah that is a huge concern for me. I think its just too much power for the space. Even an ac would only fix half the problems. Looks like that bedroom is for the plants now.

nothing wrong with the whole room factor of it, itll give you plenty of space to work with and you can always downsize or upsize how many plants ur running

Yeah I'm going to feed once more then flush then start flower just in the room. For now at least. Still amazed with the heat that thing makes. Even with the fan off the tent averages the same temp. Crazy.

I threw together a little greenhouse last weekend, and I'm not an expert by any means.... so what are your views on using the actual greenhouse effect to grow? I mean, the temp gets extreme, ranging from 110 - 185 F for ground temps, but the actual substrate range is about 75 - 90 F ... and the plants seem to thrive...
It's a pretty impressive display of temperature regulation on their part - if the measurements aren't fucked on my end of course.
Anywho, only my second grow without a co-op situation, so I'm still second guessing myself all the time. If this actual greenhouse approach is applicable for cannabis in a temperate zone 9, then I could dearly use any feedback.
It is approx. 6' wide, 6-7' high, and 10' deep.
