the light hitting them will do that for you. If you give the secondaries a nice amount of light they will grow up and out towards it.

you can train your plants at any point in veg, but, it's best to do it early so that your branches can thicken up and your plant bush out. At a month old your plants secondaries will be small, especially if you're growing from seed. Just have some patience and give them light. In a few weeks you'll see the benefits of training your tops.

sure it's not needed, but it doesn't hurt either. It can also help you hide your grow a bit better since you'll be keeping the plants lower to the ground. It's pretty hard to miss a 9ft tall pot plant
