I hung a 1000w lamp and a $2.00 clothesline, shut off the drier and switched all of the household bulbs to CFLs. My electric bill is now half of what it used to be before the 1000w lamp. Amazing how much household appliances cost to run. My entire hydro system cost $125 with parts bought from hardware stores,including the nutrients,hydroton, net pots, etc. The light and ballast was the expensive part, yes, but it paid for itself 10x over on the first grow.
Have a yard sale or sell some shit on ebay. It is worth it to make the extra effort. LEDs suck for flowering, been there, done that.
