What kind of fan should I use to cool this down a little? the 4 cfl's shouldn't heat it up too much. I was thinking about drilling a hole in each side and putting a piece of PVC through it and a computer fan attached to one side. Where can i get the shit to wire one up?

Do you know what the cfm (cubic feet per minute) rating is on the computer fan? I don't know yet what the average is for computer fans (search more later when I have time), but you're probably going to want a total of 48cfm. That should provide ample airflow for your plants, and I'd imagine temperature wouldn't be a concern either.

Yeah, I don't think temperature should be too much of a concern. I have my CFL's hanging down and they will be right above the plants, so a little would be needed. I am going to put sheetmetal above the lights to reflect some of it back down on the plants. I am going to line the whole box with foil or mylar. Or I might paint it white. I'm trying to get everything done so I can get the plants in it. I just got 4 more plants from a friend. Purp and lemon skunk.

I think if you put a couple of computer fans in it should be enough, I think they typically have a cfm of 15-30 from what I've seen searching through Google Shopping. Even if heat isn't a concern it will be necessary. Painting it white would be fine, mylar as well, but I wouldn't put up tin foil.

What would be better? Mylar or painting it white?

both are adequate but paint might be easier (and cheaper) to obtain.

I've got spray paint. I should have taken the pieces outside and spray painted them first. The box is put together and hidden. I'll just have to go get a paint brush and a cheap thing of white paint.

I can't remember precisely, but essentially mylar is around 95% reflective whereas a white flat surface is around 85% reflective, so there really isn't that much difference. The reason why tin foil shouldn't be used is because it will crease and reflect light at oblique angles, and mylar will do this to a much lesser extent as well.

If you can get mylar at a good price, go with that, but there's nothing wrong with white paint.

What's the problem with oblique angles in tin foil?

I think the problem is that it could cause hot-spots, the fact that it will get wrinkles makes it reflect light unevenly, stuff like that...
