Maylar is more reflective by 2-3 percent. Thats about the only pro of mylar in my opinion.
B&W poly is very reflective, can be used to block light out of places with the black side, is more durable, easier to hang without wrinkles, cheaper, and easier to find for me. As for cons, its not as reflective as mylar and it is still rather expensive.
Neither is clearly better, they do pretty much the same thing, but I personally prefer B&W poly.
I have found Poly to seal moisture out better than mylar so there is less risk of having mold grow behind the lining and other issues. The difference in reflection is only like 3% or 5% better for mylar.
Yeah true. And really it can save you the money and trouble of hanging up a bunch of plywood, building walls, and sealing cracks. Thats what has me considering it.
i do all my gardens w/ poly, walls, doors, intake/exhaust outlets......mylar is definitely more reflective at about 95%, but setup to setup will differ. so which is more convenient, efficient and affordable will differ.
