 Reflect Light but Not Heat.

So, I'm in flower mode, and I wanna improve the efficiency of my lights. But, the more reflective Mylar film I use, the more it increases heat in the area, because Mylar reflects light AND radiant heat from my CFL bulbs. It also worsens FAE, so the plant suffers from stale air.
Is there anyway around this?
The only Idea I came up with so far is to use a chrome-coated, very-tight screen, like pipe-screen tight. That way, it reflects some light, while NOT reflecting the heat. Would that work?
Light, but not heat?

mount a pc fan into the cardboard hood to remove the hot air...point it up so that the heat goes straight to the top where it can be removed

So I just have to add some cooling to my wooden structure? There's no way I can just use a material that reflects light and not heat?
Hmmm......I guess I can start there, but there's got to be a material for this....
There just has to be.

how can there be a material to refelect light but doesnt get hot? its not really the material its the bulb that puts out the heat

thats why we have cooltube setups so the heat never has a chance to enter the grow area
heat rises, the heat is getting trapped in the hood and its building up getting hotter and hotter
you have to remove that heat or its not going to disappear with a magic material

oh or you can get one of those little honeywell fans and point it up at the hotspot and that also works

Honeywell? What's that? Is that a brand or a style of fan?
I have seen these small, turbine-style fans that look nice, should I just that?

Light is a form of energy, so anything that reflects light will increase the temperature somewhat. Things light flat white paint will reflect more light energy than heat energy, where a material like Mylar reflects light energy and heat energy (that's why emergency blankets are Mylar). The best way to bring the temperature down is to force air exchange which will remove the heated air and replace it with air the same temperature as your room, this cool air can the absorb some more heat energy and then be expelled.

Wow, thats Amensiac. That was very thoughtful! Way to drop some knowledge!
I forgot about the whole "Mylar blankets" and heat-reflectiving thing: that's what I bought to make my reflective system! I can be so forgetful sometimes...
So I guess more air-circulation is the only solution huh?
I guess I'll just have to find a large diameter, low-RPM fan to blow the air. I don't want it *too* high a speed, or it will blow my plant away!

its the only solution regardless of what you are using to reflect the light.
If you use flat white paint...then the "heat energy" (infrared radiation) is absorbed and either re-radiated or transferred to the air in the grow space as actual heat.
Mylar is better because it has a higher reflectivity for visible light...and the infrared is gonna get absorbed anyway...it just takes longer or gets absorbed by something else...the difference is that mylar will absorb less visible light than flat white paint...which makes the whole system more efficient and overall produces less heat.
Just a thought
also you can always have a small high speed fan feed into a plenum that spreads out and slows down the airflow...that would be much louder though...
