I'm guessin nitrogen deficiency seeing that you aren't giving it any nutes at all, definately don't give it full strength its still a little baby plant, give it half strength or even weaker, but not miracle grow or some cheap shit like that. Get something decent.
You really need to check your water ph too, this could be a part of the problem it could be way high and hurting ur plants. I'm no expert but thats what i think.

Also i dont know anything about cfls, so this is just a thought, but 2-4 inches seems a little close to me, you could possibly be burning it.

well the potting soil has some nitrogen added, and cfl temps arent that warm, at most it could be low 80's within 2 inches of that bulb.

well i used scotts potting soil, so that is what it is. i know little.

i should have gotten fox farm or similar product but it was a whim.

id really like this to work out tho im looking for a mother. all 3 seedlings have similar signs.

they arent under watered, temps arent that high. i lowered them a foot down in case so ill report back in the morning.

no nutes have beem added;.

will transplanting really help?

lots of people have reported complete success with scotts. im not negating what you said by any means, but do my pictures posted lead hou to  feel this way or just the name of the potting soil?

i moved them away from the light by about a foot and am working them into a 20-4 cycle slowly from their seelding cycle of 24-0.

im open for all criticism. thank you thank you

I put all my plants straight into FF OF with no issues of over fert.  My grow room is in the 85 degree range almost all the time.  While his 80 may be a "bit" high, it's by no means causing his problems.  Transplanting wont hurt by any means.  FF OF would be my recommendation, but there are a lot of good options.

I would put money on your pH being off.

There can only be so many reasons as to why your plants are suffering, the ph of water when using soil is buffered and in the beginning not going to be causing any big issues.

80 degrees is a bit high but not terrible, humidity is not a big issue with seedlings unless you have no ventilation, your lighting seems okay, you aren't using nutrients which is fine at this stage...

You are left with basically one thing, the soil. Every strain and even individual plants of a strain have different tolerances and needs as far as nutrient levels. Young plants are sensitive to over fertilizing and even fox farm ocean forest is not suggested for young plants.

So yes, personally I suggest transplanting to a different soil... and you have adequate venting of your grow area?

ok my plan is to have them transplanted within 2-3 days into fox farm soil. thats the best i can do. i will water with distilled water for another day or 2 untill my ph up/down kit comes.

wish me luck :/ thanks for the advice i appreciate it.

watching them suffer is so sad.

totally missed this post. its good to know that my temps are ok.

i lowered everything a foot from th light, we will see what happens.

im still going to transplant into some generic organic dirt rather than this "premium potting soil"

would adding 1 part coco coir 2 parts soil be good? or should i use perlite?

Dude listen up. Buy some Fox Farm soil. They make the best. I have read that Scott's and Miracle Grow usually don't work for growing. Ditch the CFL's. Do your self a favor and buy the proper lights. Here's a link for bulbs that take care of the veg and flower - http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/eye-blue-metal-halide-lamps-c-375_596.html

For the first two weeks there is nothing that the plant needs. Remember that there has to be CO2 in the air for the plant to produce photosynthesis. If you are growing in a room or basement in the open there is no way you will be able to grow a plant. Tried, it's impossible. That's why I built a cabinet that will house my garden and everything that it needs to grow.

What do you mean by this??  Basements are the perfect place to grow.  That's where I grow, and most of the growers I see doing great things are growing in basements and bedrooms.

Do you give your plants CO2? I have to be careful about the smell and prying eyes. That is why I'm building a cabinet.

Yes I supplement with CO2.  But that's besides the point.  If you use fresh air intake you don't have to worry about co2 to an extent

I was told that while FAE would help you still wouldn't able to keep the CO2 up to what is out in the natural air. With adding CO2 your plants grow bigger and healthier. I think I'm going to add it to my plants and see what happens.

ok so moving away from the light, and using distilled water solved the problem, theres a layer of dead and dying leaves but all new growth looks great and is healthy.

i was unable to buy soil because i bought a 48x24 laminar flow hepa filter monstrosity and spent all my extra monies.

soooo what i take from this is, it was a combination of little abuses, and that by eliminating most of them, although not all, my plants will grow to be healthy.

and anyways, im just looking for a mother. no need for fancy lights and co2 tanks when you just want go freddy kruger on the plant in the end anyways.

Yes this is what I have read as well.  All text I have read so far is that since the majority of all plants that exist today developed in a time when the Earths' atmosphere Contained a higher percentage of co2.  d while the plants have become accustomed to the lower PPM of co2 that we now have.  They still obtain the ability genetically to process co2 at higher concentrations  which in turn boost cell growth.  It doesn't necessarily make them "healthier".

Magash has been trying to convince me that If you have a high enough rate of fresh air exchange it will pretty much equal the same thing.  He has been saying that the large grow houses in Holland have been switching over to this and throwing out the co2 equipment.  But to achieve what they're talking about you have to be completely replacing the total volume of air in your grow space every 2-3 minutes.  So if you have a large room your growing in you really have to be moving a lot of air.

Now personally I do run co2 in my room.  I bought the generator a long time ago and when I started back up I saw no reason not to supplement.  If I had to do it again though I would buy an injection system instead of a burner.

Sorry about the thread jack Citizen.
