12 plant max and 1500.00 dollars to spend on a grow room....any advice?

Hi everyone,
Just got my card and I can grow 12 plants. This is my FIRST GROW and I"m trying to figure out what sort lighting rig would I need and what method would be the best??? i.e. scrog, topping, supercropping or just growing them out. I am thinking about 2 1000w using coco as a medium and watering myself.
This will be in a basement that is dry and pretty cool. So far I know I will need the lights, coco, pots, some sort of ventilation, ph test and nuts. Anything MAJOR that I am forgetting?
Since i have a large basement I am wondering if i would be better off building a room within a room probably 8x8 or maybe more or if i should just use the whole room?
Also any recommendations on what brand of light and reflector and a place that sels them with good deals? I am thinking maybe the Adjust-A-Wing would be good, but I dont know how hot they are or how to cool.

You need timers for the lights, heavy duty ones (15 amp min.) and you will want to build a room to help reflect light back into your canopy. It will also allow you to micro-control your climate better. On that note, you will also need a hydro/temp sensor. They monitor humidity and temperature and will be a great help. Since this is your first grow, I would say just try growing with one light first and firgure out what you are doing. It will take a few months but probably save you tons of time and money in the end. Then when you go to finish your 2000w flowering room, you can install a hydro system and grow the best bud around in a much shorter time. Buy that book by the way, he is a genius.

i all ways thought a certain number of plants is retarded. they should go by square feet or something similar.
i just dont get it. 12 plants. okay. 12 lil plants with minimal veg time can produce lets say a pound. 1 or 2 large plants say vegged for 6-7 months can easily produce a pound. so "12" plants is retarded. there basically saying your allowed to grow about a pound or 6-12 pounds depending on your patients and or skill level.

If you want to try to skip straight to growing like a pro build yourself a ebb&flow table and also don't just do 1 grow room for all 12 of your plants. Get yourself a couple good mothers going on and clone them to be flowered. You can harvest every ~2 months
Another great video set (that explains exactly how to do what I described) is called "I Grow Chronic" - it's very good the guy tells you how to build your own grow rooms (much cheaper), and how to do all the growing and shit. There are 7 parts.
Jorge Cervantes' DVDs are also very informative as you already know.
For nutrients I highly recommend Advanced Nutrient

I think coco pots would be better than a ebb and flow table if he wants to make the most out of his 12 plants.
Ebb and flow buckets could work well too.
If he lives in a med state, why clone from mother plants and not just shell out for 12 clones?

Why pay for something you can provide yourself with for free? I'd rather have 11 LST'd in flower with a momma. I don't know what clones run you out here but over here they're like $20-40, depending on how well you know the guy. So that's $220-$440 every two or so months, fuck that noise. Guess I'm just cheap that way

I don't know where you live but I think clones in California are $10-15, and $5-8 when you buy in bulk.
Even at $20 a pop that's $240. Lbs are say ~$3000 so QP's are 800bucks. You could easily get a quarter pound a plant in a 3month period. This makes it more economical to purchase clones. Some places have flowering or mature plant counts seperate to clones/vegging plants often determined by height in such a case it would still be economical to purchase clones.

Well it's not legal here.
and $240 is expensive in my opinion especially when it could be $0 or if you want to get technical, the cost of running a few CFLs for 18 hrs a day.

Well, I suppose it's all a matter of opinion, really. Myself, we have cycling harvests. The plants are vegged in one room and then moved into the grow room when they're too tall.
Instead of keeping a mother, we simply take a clone off the plant we're about to put into the flowering room.
I would think it's better to pay for clones, if you have them available to you. It would also enable you to work off more than one strain at a time as well, and not have to keep two mothers.

Regardless of legality, $120 that often may be expensive for some people - I'm just trying to offer alternative options. The only reason I mentioned legality was to help you understand why it's so expensive here...
