Plant Stretching

Ok I probably shouldn't be worried about this but I felt I should ask anyway.
My first seedling to pop and open up its leaves already has a stem thats like an inch and a half long. I don't really see anyone elses seedlings have this long of a stem, or I might just be over cautious...but, is this plant stretching out too much?
For the past four or five days I have been running my three 26w CFL's on 24/7. Could this make the plants upward growth way too fast?

Its hard to tell without any pics or measurement.... cfl's can be really close to the plant without burn. If you can feel heat from the cfl's on the back of your hand while touching the top of the plant, then it's too close.

Yea, I would keep the CFLs about 3-4 inches from the plant, and you should be fine. Daylight CFLs (5500K+) will prevent stretching better than red spectrum soft white CFLs(3500K-). An inch and a half stem on a new seedling sounds about right, shouldn't be stretched too much.

stretching is generally due to a lack of light, although extreme high temps can also produce a lanky plant as well.

Ok then I am just being over-cautious, which is better than not being cautious at all. I came home from work and OH MY GOD! Its a freaking garden in my closet.
I now have six little children sitting happily under humi-domes. :]
I am going to go pick up some low wattage CFL's in a different spectrum so I can add some diversity to the lighting.

Thank you very much for the advice!
I just added one more CFL, figured it was the right thing to do now that six plants have sprouted. Also thinking about transplanting them into FFOF in a few days when the roots come out of the pots they are in.
