Which to get? Will a computer fan simply blowing air out of the the cabinet suffice? (cab will be a fridge)
I need help understanding how the exhaust system works.

First we need size of room HxWxL and what size light you're planning to use.

This day and time not really.
The OP could be referring to anything from a mini fridge to a double door 85 cf one.
And the type of light is one of the largest factors in cooling the grow space.

400 w HPS in a normal house fridge. Don't have the exact dimensions right now, but it's totally your standard fridge. The light will also be separated from the rest of the chamber by a sheet of glass or equivalent, and there will be a fan on it.
But I'm trying to understand exactly what kind of fan is needed specifically for outtake.

Well you want to change your air 2 or more times per minute.
I'd say look into a 4 inch inline fans and filter to cut out the smell issue.

From what I know the bigger they are for your area the more silent they will be, because you wont have to run them full blast.
