Adding a light late into budding cycle?

Someone told me that a significant increase in light late into the budding cycle would result in "light shock" and make a plant veg again. Is this true?

Im using 4 big CFLs at 3900 lumens each, and want to add a 5th...

nah, more lights = better. no shock. punch that know nothing no it all in the face.
