New Site New Ideas

I thought I'd share this idea I had..
The pictures are self explanatory, but just in case..
The cd acts as a mulch and keeps the moisture in the soil at the same time it boosts theamount of light reaching the plant.
Works great for clones also. enjoy!

Cool idea. My gut reaction is that a plant that small doesn't need that much light.

This seems like a cool idea, but would the reflection from the cd also reflect heat off of it? As well as burning the leaves?

Maybe a cd with a flat white surface already painted on it would do the trick, just to be safe(?)

the problem with using something like that is that it reflects the light in a beam, just like a mirror and tinfoil. that is why mylar or white paint is the way to go because it reflects the light but not in a single beam.

Thanks.
Well I was also a little worried about hot spots at first, but none of the leaves have been burned(400 watts). I've noticed a great improvement in growth and tighter internodes, the whole underside of the plant lights up with this. If you got heat issues this might not work for you, then again, it will keep your soil from overheating and drying out.

It ALSO may be a great way to keep fungus gnats out of your soil too (if overwatered). That cd seems pretty convenient.

These clones start the flowering cycle at the first sign of growth, they will be about a foot tall when they are done.
the clones are a mix of ak47, white widow and dingleberry.

The flowering formula consists of Alaska 5-1-1, Schultz 10-60-10 Bloom plus and Mothers Molasses.

One week later..Because of the cd's light blocking ability, and the lower dehydration rate, the roots are growing over the surface of the soil-less mix.
I've only had to water about once a week, but their water needs are increasing rapidly now as they start to become slightly root bound..
The clones will get transplanted from the 20 ounce pots, once more into half gallon pots.

Well these ladies are heavy feeders.. :donut:
Veg ratio is 6-1-6 alaska(5-1-1) and mollasses(1-0-5).

I use the booster half strength, the flowering ratio is 11-31-11.
Plain water the last two weeks.

3 liter bottles are the way to go..
2 liter was a bit small for the cd to fit inside.
