Its not the best idea to plant in pots unless u are going to be able to water them when needed. If u are going to leave them for a long period....plant them in the ground...dig holes, add good soil and fert mix, add some water polymer crystals, and a thick layer of mulch. If ur really feeling up to doin things right....add a gravity fed watering system with drippers on a timer.

You're in the NE. It should rain enough naturally. I would keep them out of the pots unless you are going to set up a gravity feed drip system. Got water?

I wouldn't count on natural rain fall. Always have a back up plan. Also, the farmers almanac is calling for 2010 to be a dry year in the Atlantic corridor, so keep that in mind as well.
