Finally getting around to growing some cacti. 1

Picked up a few cuttings, a couple of what I think are PC Pachanoi and the rest of the columnars are Cactus Kate's SS02 Bridgesii.
Hoping to get them rooted and move them out to the east side of the house to get that cool sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon.
Maybe the PC Pach will work well as a grafting rootstock

Why grow San Pedro? For the flowers or the fruit?
FYI the video shows how to graft your plants.

They've all at least doubled in size over the growing season.
The ones in the blue plastic pots have been through hell. We get pretty rough (though short-lived) thunderstorms out here that can easily throw potted plants around, and a few of my cutting got de-potted and thrown out in the yard several times. They all handled it pretty well, they are surprisingly tough little plants.
It's going to be time to bring them in for winter this week, I'll try to grab a few snapshots of the them when I do.

Here ya go kreg.
I just pulled them in yesterday, and of course a big wind storm came through and knocked a few out of their pots, so excuse the low soil level in some of the pots.
I also have a few new pups!

No update to be had, it's winter and they're dormant in the garage.

I've got a little cutting I was trying to keep out of the light, somehow just sitting in my kitchen it still managed to suck up enough to get all weird and etoliated like a weird long nipple dick

Oh, ok, you must be in the cold South West, haha!
I have never let my cacti go dormant before. How's that work out for you? Do they totally stop growing with no etiolating, right?

Yea I'm up in the high desert of Northern NM, it got down to 15F last night.
It works out pretty well, my garage gets down into the low 40s at night, and I haven't watered them since before my last update. They haven't grown at all since the temps dropped, and don't etiolate.
This is my first cactus overwinter, so I'll update the thread in May when it's time to start moving them back outside. I'll probably repot them in April, because the storms out here used to throw them all over the yard. I need to get some heavier clay pots and put some rocks down in the bottom of each pot to help weigh them down.

Same here! It was 15 when i got up early this morning. What grow zone are you, 7A?
I can't keep anything out in my garage/shed because it's unheated and they would freeze solid! Mine are forced to have to stay awake the whole winter. They don;t etiloate though, because they get lots of full sun through the windows, and it's nice and toasty in there as well.
I can't wait to see your update in a few months
Oh and yes, always go with clay when growing cacti so in case they get too top heavy topple over

Heatpads for them? Experiment with one and see if it continues to grow.
One of the most aggressive cactii i rooted was in a clear container so the roots were visible and recieved indirect and sometimes direct sunlight during winter.
