Magnification Recommendations for Handheld Lens or Scope
    #826384 - 06/13/17 10:02 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I want to develop my chops so I'll be able to take advantage of changes coming up in Canada's cannabis laws.  I am slowly getting a number of items and technical info together (prefabricated grow tent, Jorge Cervantes 'Bible', lights, online forums, etc.)

At this point I am studying up on judging readiness from trichome development.  I have seen both 30x and 60x recommended. Of these, what level of magnification would be best suited for this purpose?  Are there more suitable magnifications?

Thanks in advance.

I like the 60-100x microscope I bought for around $8. Built well with durable feeling plastic.

Loupe's are relatively cheap on ebay but 30x loupe's are a bit too small for my taste.

I took a look at the one on A-to-Z.  May I assume it can be separated from the base for our purposes?

Yep, the slide holder is removable.

I use 10x geology/jewelers loop. But if go to prospecting store geology store you can pick up for under 20 bucks for glass lens and metal. I would suggest higherx but its enough to see trichs.

Keep in mind laws will only likely allow 4 plants until kirk amd da boys take to court and prove its an arbatrary #. So dont go tooo big for a tent yet. Best is just get your medical card. If have been rx any medication you can basically obtain 1. Sleeping pills, gabapentin for nerve pain. If rx for ritilin ADD gastrointestinal issues etc. Depending on province its free or 150 for telemedicine clinics. This will grant you more plants as every gram rx you can grow 5 plants indoor.

Ps nice huichol bead art!

The tent is 3 x 3 x 5.  It's the Pup Tent from BCNL.
