Please forgive if this post is in the wrong section, can anyone recommend a reasonably effective PH meter? Thanks.

I started with Hannahs and Ill never touch them again. Only been doing this five years and I went through four of the Ph pens, not the cheaper ones, and this is with me following the directions for proper storage.... stored in the proper solution, cleaned frequently, and would change electrodes as needed, and still went through four.
Three growers around me started with the hannahs as well. Sister went through two, brother through two, buddy up the road went through three, and the owners of the shop had many shit out as well. Hannah is garbage.
My Hort shop stopped carrying them because of how many returns they got and their own issues with Hannah instruments. Got a blue lab and never looked back. Will never touch a Hannah instrument again. cant stress that enough. Plz do yourself a favor and get a bluelab. Not one failure in two years for any of us..
If you do decide Hannah maybe get two or three for back up lol

My hannah pH meter is going on 5 years. You don't know what you are talking about. Same thing with my PPM meters.
They're good equipment.

Maybe somebody just got a lemon, or their meter was made on a screwoff Friday with lineworkers who were looking forward to a holiday weekend or something.

usually about a 100 bucks. But it's worth it.
This is the one I have, has worked wonderfully for years now, about 5-6 to be exact. And I never do the recommended instructions of keeping it in a solution and what not.

I picked up a bluelab combo for $155 on ebay a few days ago. Cant wait to try it out, everything Ive read about them has been great.
Never tried any Hannahs, but looking around on the web they have a lot of negative reviews about their quality and customer service recently. Maybe they used to be good, but it looks like they're going downhill....

I have a buddy who has had his for 5 years too.... just like I had a Ford Explorer that got 200,000 miles with only issue ever being an alternator. Than theres four of my other buddys who had Explorers and theirs were shit.
Sometimes you get a solid one. Thing is, Hannah has failed myself and those around me more than not, within very short periods of time. Blue lab has not, in a very long time. No waiting forever for the accurate reading, 2 seconds in the water and you got your reading.
This is with me using both. Just like bashing a nutrient lineup . Use a blue lab vs a Hannah than let me know if you feel the same, Hawk, rather than just saying "you don't know what you're talking about." For all of us the Blue Lab was the winner.
Like I said, my shop stopped carrying Hannah because of too many returns, we all used them, and we all stopped using them... Now the shop owners, myself, sister, brother, and three fellow growers all switched and will tell you the same thing.

I have tried Blue Lab, and Milwaukee. Not to mention a few others. I still prefer my Hannah pen.
Which ones were you trying? I don't buy the cheap 30 dollar ones, I but the nice ones. If Hannah is as shitty as you are claiming, they wouldn't still be in business.

Yeah BlueLab Combo meters are badass. If you take care of them they should last almost indefinitely. A great investment for any size grow. I just bought my first one after using them at my job. Very reliable and convenient. Little pricy but worth it if you can splurge the money.
