Difference: pH of Drainage H2O vs. Soil -???-

Hey, so I got this plant... The pH of my run off water is looking like 7.0-7.5 from a ph strip (good), yet my soil meter is reading 6.5(too acidic). Can any one give some insight on what is most important, what this means, and what to do to always have the optimum pH level in your soil. I assume that I want my soil pH to be where my water runoff pH is, right? This I believe, is more important to the roots ability to absorb nutrients.
Thanks! :]

6.5 is not too acidic, perfect for soil actually.
For the most part you can usually get by without adjusting the pH for soil (assuming ~7pH) without any problems, its just optimal to drop it down a bit.

I'd also like to add that 7 is neutral and the natural ph of H2O. If you're PH is 6.5, you're doing well mate.
