I'm trying to make a better CFL reflector. It seems mine is really a piece of shit. Anybody got any good ideas on how to make a better one?

I'm gonna say poster board and mylar and then head on back to 3rd grade when we all made dioramas/history fair projects/science fair projects/whatever and get to gluing .

Speaking of which, is the really expensive stuff that much better than the expensive stuff, or the cheap liner? I mean Obviously it reflects more light, but is lets say 5%that much? 3%? I mean if you can obtain 97% efficiantcy for $80 & 100% for $102, is that $22 well spent?

Great questions; this is why I personally went with just panda film for the grow room instead of mylar.
Of course, when you're building a simple reflector for a CFL, the expense of getting mylar should be minuscule. The difference will only really add up when you're buying a couple rolls that are meters wide and many more meters long.

it's not even 3-5% or whatever it's a fraction of what you think it is because light is lost on the reflector, it loses intensity by 50% every 12 inches and only so much needs to be sent back from the walls.

He's talking about the percentage difference in the reflectivity of one material compared to another.

I know I'm just emphasizing that it doesn't even matter as much as the percent.
The difference between flat white and mylar is nearly unnoticeable.

So this is even true for the walls of the grow area? Would CO2 enrichment make any difference? I mean since the CO2 would give the plant the ability to use more light. Lets say you were running a 250watt hps in a chamber of slightly less than 6 square feet, would mylar coating that is 97% reflective keep enough extra light in play to make a significant difference? If flat white is comparable, I'm sure I wouldn't mind saving some money. Does anyone have a rebuttal to this?

I hear if you have adequate circulation and maintain at least the same ppm co2 as your nutrients you will get 20-25% yield increase.
This would mean your co2 travels across the grow room before being exhausted with plenty of turbulance between (osilating fans)
20-25% seems high to me but many people swear by it, a ton of people say they get double the yield (obv a exaggeration but people wouldn't make such claims if they weren't happy)
