Well the reason i asked what your doing is because if you are doing growing and flowering, i would recommend to get a solis tek matrix balast, because you can you 400,600 and 1000 watt bulbs. So when your plants are younger you can use a smaller light and not wast alot moree powere whn you dont need to be runing 1000 what. And the ballast are just a rally good brand as well.
Thats what i use and it works great, i use 400 what for small seedlings or clones for about a month. Then when ther bigger i use the 600 what, then switch too 1000watts when they are bigger and in flower.
Not sure about putting 1k lights in the tents. I don't see why not if you ventilate all the time. Might get hot as hell in there if you don't. I can vouch for those apollo ballast not being complete shit. I think I've had my 400w one for just over 2 years and it seems fine. Def works with plantmax and digilux brand bulbs for sure, and I've read it works with hortilux. Whoever sells Apollo gear is killing it atm. Surprised more people don't copy what he's doing.
Check youtube for videos of people with 1k ballast in that or a similar tent imo. and make sure you're getting the best price for those apollo items. Also I don't know for sure but I think that with cool tubes you lose some light because some has to pass out of the glass then bounce off the reflector then goes back through 1 or 2 layers of the cool tube glass again. May not be enough to be a problem, but still.
I think with a combined 2k light in such a small space it won't be a problem.
What other hoods could I use? I'm very conscious of the potential heat problem which is why I want to use air cooled instead of reflector, will probably make a huge difference.
