I like using the paper towel method myself, has yet fo fail me. Then putting the seed taproot first into a hole (in soil) no deeper then half a inch in a Dixie cup with drain holes. I like vegging under a two t5 fixture for a few weeks under a 18/6 schedule. Also it.is advised not to put more then one plant per pot.

Hey guys I just mixed like 25% pro mix HP with 75% ground loam in 3x3x3ft holes it seems very soft and not clay like with a noticeable amount of perlite. Am I gonna end up with crappy weed? Can this work out well with a good line of organic nutrients or am i on the road to bammer?
PS. what could speed up flowering ive noticed from one of my friends attempts that they grew huge but didnt mature completely could this be a result of ground dirt. Or was he just impatient im not sure they would never admit it.

I put the special potting soil in there got some stuff on the way but i put some verm on top sprinkled the bottle all on top bout half a cup deep put the seed in lightly covered that with verm sprinkled half a bottle of bottled water over that til it was empty
put a empty container over that with a cfl light 6 inches away
How often should I moisten it? I figure it'll grow once I turn the light off

I have a proper grow light,it's the most expensive thing in my set up but it doesn't give off much heat
I don't want to paper towel it if I don't have to, I'm worried about wasting time damaging the root that way.
How much time before my seeds go bad?

I've seen pictures of people starting a bunch of seeds in a single bed, but I personally wouldn't do that. I like using paper towels then to party cups.
Yea screw incandescent. IF you look around you can get big 10-15$ 60w 6500k CFL that fit in normal e27 sockets and are pretty good IMO. Though they are sometimes sold as photography bulbs that are meant for E26 sockets and the product descriptions will just say "fits standard socket" which seems intended to hide that they are talking about e26 standard sockets and not e27, though e26 can still fit in an e27 socket, they just have less threads and possibly might not screw into some sockets. It's usually not a problem, but just felt I should mention it.
The 60w are a great deal for 10-15$ since the 125 watt are 40-50$ at the cheapest and yu need a whole new type of socket. There might even be 100 watt cfl that fit into e27 but I'm not positive.

nah I have a 300 dollar grow light lol the incadecent is to keep the heat up in the space
what I'm wondering is though why is this thing drooping? I leave it and it seems like any light it can get it goes after... I put a borken chop stick under it and tied it up with a string
it's probably like 3 inches high maybe with four spread leaves on top it looks like it could blow over and die in an instant

You are killing it with too much water, too early of feeding, your light is too close, it's too hot, what else could go wrong? When you overwater one day and your plant droops, then you think it needs more water which is exactly the wrong thing. Oh maybe it's drooping because it's hungry. Oh maybe it needs more light, better get that hot light right on top of this 3" tall plant.

I used like 8fl oz last night it's 3inches tall and has ten leaves
when should I water it again?
the light starting now will be on for another 15 hours
EDIT: nvm, if you stick your finger in and it's still wet sounds reasonable

Has anyone grown in the ground before it seems like i could go without watering for two weeks without damage. Does this slow down growth? I want my roots to spread sideways like in a smart pot but i think they are shooting downward instead. Should I wait till they show signs of thirst before I decide my water schedual or should I water more like every three days to encourage the roots to grow faster and more spread out?

Here is my cut wire alarm circuit you might as well lose one and save the rest. Just make sure you buried the negative underground and lock the alarm inside of some thing so the only thing accessible is the sensor wire when it breaks the relay clicks and ignites the 9vt power supply activating the alarm you could connect this to any kind of power switch I was thinking about making it activate a stereo with the volume all the way up.

Vermiculite works great for cloning but you cant move it till they grow roots, the coco coir got root rot quick.
