Hey, I am a medical patient that has been authorized to cultivate! So I began creating my box for my mini garden. I have done lots of research before starting this project and have also grown before but not really seriously like I am now!
This is a picture of the frame of the box.
This is the inside:
Inside again:
Front of the box, lol at my little medical cross I was stoned!
I am completely done with the construction of the box, sealing air tight, and adding latches, handles, and door accessories. I still need to weather strip the door but as of now it is pretty damn sealed. Until I figure out my lighting and ventilation cooling I am not cutting the holes for that yet.
The next process of my box is adding the lighting and ventilation. Now I have never done an actual box grow but have done open space grows, so I have never dealt with ventilation but of course I have researched it. The measurements of the box are as follows Width= 1.6' Length = 3.5' Height= 4.3'. This gives the cubic volume in feet as 24.08 cubic feet.
Now before I get into the fan and ventilation i am planning on using I would like to mention that this box is going to be located in a closet, the A/C temperature of the dwelling is set at 78 F. The room is located facing the hot sun, so the ambient temperature inside the room bounces from 80-85 F. it really sucks but with turning off all my electronics and keeping my door open it usually stays at 80.
Ok the fan I plan on using is this one from ebay it is a 160 CFM 4" inline fan. My friend says its 190 actually but was labeled as 160 so idk. My friend bought it and decided it was definitely not the right size for his PC grow.LMFAO! really too big haha.
Here are the specifications!~
Blower: Power 110-120V, 110W Airflow Rate 160 CFM (cubic feet per minute) Revolutions 2890 RPM Current Flow 0.7 Amps Working Environment Temperature -20 to 40 degrees Celsius Motor Insulation Class F (Much Safer, can endure 155 degrees Celsius) Noise 51db Overall Dimension 11in. x 8in. x 13in. Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Filter: Iodine Adsorption Value 950 (High efficiency) Carbon Layer Thickness 1.5 inches Specific Surface Area 900-1000 square meter per gram Average Life Expectancy of Carbon about 1.5 yrs Max. Endurable Temperature 400 degrees Celsius (Safer) Operating Environment Temperature -20 to 65 degrees Celsius Overall Size 10" Tall x 8" Bottom Diameter
Now that is what I plan on using for vent.
Now to lighting.
I understand that lighting gets hot! That is why I plan on making a cool tube or buying one. Honestly when I went to the hydrostore I thought that buying a hood would be a waste of money they look simple to make and with them selling socket assemblies I could simply just add that and make a perfect hood. I am on a tight budget. but anyways the bigger question is what size light should I go with. I am bouncing between 150w - 250w. I plan on vegging and flowering in this chamber. simple and easy, keep clones in another box, when they big enough place in box, vegg, flower, harvest. I am looking into a remote ballast too. Just not an expert in the lighting part and would like to get some experienced input. The people at my grow place are more along the lines of stoners and not really helpful.
THANKS! ONE LOVE!

well it looks like you have your closet complete. you already have a setup in mind for ventilation. now light, cooltube reflectors are fairly cheap. 150 or 250 watt might do, but 400 would prolly be better. you will definitely need a ph test kit. a quality nutrient program ( don't wanna be using miracle blow) a timer for that light. just a few things off the top of my head. good luck and keep us posted.

I have come a long long way my friends. Check out the box now!! I have fox farm organic soil with a small mix of some "secret" top soil and hydro-ton mixed in gingerly but spread well over tops. I have not added nutrients except my coffee grind mix and that works well. I tried a dose of my friends vegan nutrients and they worked well as best as I could tell. The strains are as follows: White Widow, 2 Sour Grapes, and a Mango Kush. Now the White widow was a clone and has accelerated in growth. This called for me to so some LST recently. I'll post a pic of that too!! All in all looking amazing and by the way I just got my cool tube but still don't have money for bulb and ballast trust me real lighting is coming soonn! but what these CFLS can do is amazing and this is the PROOOFF!
Adding the fan and Carbon Filter
Exhaust Hole with Dryer Vent
Sour Grape from Local Med Club In box!
OverView
Big ass one is white widow from a mother clone of my friends she is a beaast!!
WW again
WW Low Stress Training with Twine!
I should get on an organic nute schedule soon but honestly all my plants grow well without a lot of nutes but for the smaller ones ima have to.
