This is the follow up to my shittily done LED strain test/review. Basiclly, that amounted to me picking early buds, sampling, making mental notes, deciding what to keep & what to toss. I'm just a hobby grower who never sells . Growing just to fill jars to smoke, and have been known to overkill my space and not care too much... about much. I JUST LIKE TO GROW PLANTS Some people jerk off to porn... haha I like to be around plants. The best and arguably only good pics will be at the end when buds in my main room are mature.
What I'm working with and a review: ( I'll start with I'm getting rid of and didn't like) White widow (nirvana) The slowest, runtiest, weirdest mutant I've ever seen.... sexy buds if you can wait a year to veg this terrible slow pheno I got dealt... fail. Midnight kush ( G13 labs) Although this plant has some of the shortest, widest, indica leaves I've ever seen, its a very slow grower! That, and despite the faint melon smell while growing, it has no taste in the pipe, and honestly I didn't think it was too stony either. buds "look" super sexy though and are hard. That doesn't hold much weight to me tho...
brainstorm (dutch passion) . These buds look amazing, slight fruity smell. Again, not that stonyin my humble opinion. I don't want any more jars of this unimpressive but pretty bud. Growth wise: Spindly, weird bullshit genetics in my opinion. dealbreaker.
Blueberry (dutch passion) Also spindly weird genetics just like the brainstorm. deal breaker... Very tasty bud tho and pretty looking. the stone is awesome couch locky and I'd consider that right up my alley. Too much hating the growth tho physically. fail. unbelievebly small spindley leaves... its a shame the bud is actually kickass...
Trainwreck (greenhouse) Nasty nasty... love it! its fruity and gross at the same time somehow... Super trippy and stony on the mind... The stacked calyx weirdness and leaflet chunks will have you thinking the early buds are males... never seen anything quite like it. Total win all around.
Bubblegummer (Female) Probably the most robust, healthy, thick and fast plant I've ever grown. Sturdy ect.. The seed I got produced the classic pink gum scent that is a real pleasure to squeeze... Not overly impressive taste wise although agreeable.. buzz is middle of the road but not bad. good for daytime. no couch lock (sigh). Robust enough to keep as a breeder...
master kush (nirvana) Reasonably vigorous, on par speed wise. amazingly crystal coated sexiness in flower... Hashy goodness on the taste just like an original afghan which I'd describe as musky... This bud will completely knock you on your ass and fuck up your plans... unless a nap was your plan.
Northern ligthts (nirvana) What an amaziiiing plant! fast, robust, sturdy, sooo sexy.. smells mildly fruity and tastes the same with a hashy splash. Perfect mix of stony and inspiring... high yielder and holds her weight without support! Will not tolerate dryness! her leaves will droop at the first sign of water lack...
Chemdog (green house) Not to be confused with chem dawg, although grown from diesel so... Probably the tallest, lankiest ugliness I've ever grown... needs mega support, or breaks her own neck on what will be medusa gangley tops. Oily fuel nastiness is a real treat tho, and despite its lank it explodes with budding sites and is on par as a yielder.
Moby Dick (dinafem) What a beast! this plant is super massive and very fast. head sized leaves ... The bud on my pheno is extremely lemony like sour lemon candy. Of everything I'm growing its the one I haven't smoked yet... oh and the plants all have the tendency to become completely yellow for whatever reason... (iron lockout?) but I haven't lost leaves so currently am ok with it... all I can say so far is its a beast & smells super impressive.
Dads purp ( my dad) Haha this is a northeastern inbred strain that is the fruitiest fastest thing ever... Buds are a bit fluffy indoors but its such a gem scent is fruity pebbles and unique. The buds themselves won't turn purple but the whole rest of the plant will get grapey as hell if cold... The high is amazing and makes any bad day seem better.. much like the NL she will let you know how depressed she is if you let her get dry...
Gumdrop (my project) Originally unknown source that picked up years ago. The absolute turn your body to stone , take your shoes off and ride the wave to dream land couch locker. Nothing has ever roasted my body harder and somehow it hits the head instantly as well. Super slow though although doesn't mind extreme cold temps or long dry spells. The buds are snow covered as I will show in later posts...
I'll be updating with bud & plant shots as I see fit, and at least one of everything finished

The first seeds I ordered was Chemdog by GH. Very stoney plant! Its the kind of bud you smoke after you've been smoking bud and you actually get higher
Here's a photo of when she got real tall before I had my lights set up right. She did 8oz though.

All shots are me stumbling in the dark with my flash on as the hps causes my cam to have black bands...
There are northern lights plants scattered about the room... The moby dick (heavy lemon candy scent) The chemdog (these girls have been lanky for me)
This purp is where the real show is for me. last year I ran a seed my dad & me made in '99 which was northern purp x cali orange x "amsterdam delight" (by homegrown fantaseeds) & I felt the amsterdam delight ruined the yields as it was a low yielder. I had to beg my dad for a seed of the previous years generation from '98 of northern purp x cali orange. The original 30yr inbred purp was lost when the mama died... Its gooey grape colored madness on this 5 foot wide light hogging bush... The smell is mind blowing candy candy candy... like artificial grape and fruity pebbles... I've never seen this strain get so dark but... been hitting the whole room with cool night temps between 55 & 60F & an 11/13 light schedule of course & its lookin like fall time around here...
Its gettin to be sexytime...

ok, in the middle of the plant there are a couple leaves that look all wrinkly, i've seen it myself, but not sure what causes it? looks also like some other minor nute deficiencies, am i correct?

Yeah that's that moby dick. its actually looking a lot better now. In Dinafems description they mention that strains sensitivity to develop iron lockout. I think heat stress can cause the crinkled leaves also but I'm guessing iron was my issue. I used too much promix and not enough juice with many of these also. Some of these plants were subjected to a fun combo of cold temps and neglect... All is well tho. everythings kickin ass now

Man I love growing weed....
So I'm chopping the moby dick... It didn't amount to much since I neglected its lil ass and twas shaded ect... Ironic... its the coolest smelling and neatest looking bud I have and I didn't even make one clone
I'm also about to hack the purp wich is also kind of airy.... super coated tho... should be a couple good jars of dank splendor...
Moby dick
The bubblegummer coming out glazed... I have 3 in flower at different stages and many baby clones.. what a producer this girl is consistently
Another chemdog is getting some gnarly purple tones! leaves a purp/orange combo... what a dank nasty smell
The purp...I'll post the pile or a plant pic when i drag er out for the long awaited chop... This plant is special to me since the seed came straight from my dads freezer from 1998...
I made lots of crosses... the northern lights x chemdog should improve both... chemdog x bubble ...same idea

so towards the very last stretch of flowering, yes?
i am wondering if it's not good for all of flowering, and even veg. grandma's has like, 10% potassium, 2% x iron+cal+mag and tons of sugar.
i know my plants have been enjoying doses of it while they are in veg.
do you think molasses is good to use throughout flowering, to help feed the microorganisms or should it be better used towards the end, in your experience?

Actually I have no experience with it at all... I just read about it and couldn't find a whole lot folks had to say that was negative... My flowering room was badly neglected in vital stages and I wasn't worried about trying just about anything for sake of curiosity. In fact, I purposely let these girls hit temp ranges from 40f at night to 80f in day.... but that's the way it is outside in fall anyway and my native girl kicked some ill colors so I got my desired funk.
Seems like a non risky idea. Except for the sweetness potentially inviting pests I believe the plants dig it.

The fertilizer companies are up nights trying to disguise molasses as something else they can sell at 10x the price. You can use molasses throughout flowering, as well as in veg. I only use the organic cane sugar molasses which is somewhat tasty and good for humans too.

I haven't been updating too well... oh its because I'm too stoned from the product!
The purp is all cured up. So stony! it lays me down... More NL
Midnight kush in veg. Widest indica leaves I've ever seen
Of all the things I ran, the moby dick is the dankest & most enjoyable in the pipe/brain Ironically, of everything, its the one thing I didn't clone! But... I have one runty neglected specimen in the corner I can clone from. The pheno I got smells heavily of lemon candy!
my project plant "gumdrop" is in flower as of 2 weeks.. Stoniest weed I've ever encountered. Its couch lock is similar to opiates. Plant was a pain in the ass because I had to flower a few at birth to determine sex, then back to veg for a clone whore. This strain is the hardest, woodiest stemmed thing ever and cloning it (even w a cloning machine) is almost impossible. If I do 20, 2 will live, and so far I have 4 healthy ones.

I was waiting on a new camera... So: Things are progressing well. Ideas coming together
Here we have a reversed chem dog with a funky male head. Thanks to Magash for turning me on to the spray.
This is a new one called "martian kush" . Not too impressive so far. For a "kush" it sure has some sativa traits. Was a fast, tall veg runner to...
The northern lights is so pretty in its young flower stage. Quickly develops young, ropey hairs and coated leaflets.
The chem dog. Its just so dank. Definitely the basis of my personal breed vision.
Planning "Chem dog" x "bubblegummer" And finding a desirable seed plant. Reversing that and running it against my "gumdrop" strain, which is the ultimate couchlock hell. Speaking of the gumdrop, I have one flowering now. Will snap pics soon. Has weird "cabbage head" looking flowers, & wide leaflets with frosty stacked calyxs.

That strain was inbred locally for 30years but we lost the original. This is the original purp x cali orange. The amazing thing about it was never the color, but the unique "fruity pebbles" taste.
She only turns color when cold and I got those girls super cold.

So I'm running a different pheno of the moby dick right now and I'm wondering about the one you have. The first ones I ran all had a little hint of lemon in the smell and taste but only slightly tastes better than your typical haze. They had a very indica look to them while growing (short, dense, very broad leaves) and the high is completely in the head. This new pheno is about 4 weeks in and has more sativa features. Smells like sugar right now and I'm super excited lol.

oh damn, I didn't realize you lost it. Sorry to hear that. I'm pretty sure this is the one. Every time I have to touch the plant, my hand just smells like candy for the longest after. I have it growing next to an indica pheno and it looks like it is going to take longer to finish than the indica. Even still, you've got me hyped up about this one lol.

Hell yeah. Wasnt much of a good yielder. Low actually. The young developing buds look rather unimpressive but it gets frosty on the finish. Really amazing in the pipe though.

ya it seems like at this point it will be lower yield than the indica ones. Took a few cuttings off it to clone today. How long did yours take to finish? My older one takes about 8 1/2 weeks under LED and grown in coco. Last batch knocked my socks off and I know that plant could have done so much better lol. Had a PH lockout and burned up a lot of the leaves, and still liked better than any of the bullshit I used to get from my guy.
Seriously, I love my new hobby so much lol.

I never count weeks so I have no idea. I pretty much always ask myself "Could it go longer?" as opposed to "Is it done yet?" Turned brilliant yellow in the cold. If you got that lemon pheno, its seriously a gem. Ive never wanted to eat a bud so badly haha... Or, fill up a pool with it and bask...

I have one last seed of that to pop. maybe ill get lucky and find another good one to make F2s. Just came out of the tent, and as soon as it opens, sugary sweet smell fills the room. It doesn't smell anything like bud or even a plant at all.

The young, early developing "gumdrop" (local unknown)
She has the weirdest stacked calyx and cabbage head type cluster buds. strongest couch lock I've ever had. Rivals opiates. Thats what its a gem and worth studying I feel.
The "Martian Kush" ( DNA Genetics). Its going to be one of those ever reaching, never finishing varieties. Quite unlike what we"d call a kush. Weidest smell. Not good weird either. Just weird. Almost like... carrots (?) Its stick-like, branchless formation, & large top cola would make it ideal for sea of green runs... if the buds werent so odd. It's described as being very potent.... we will see.

The gumdrop sounds pretty good. So frosty. I am a huge indica fan myself. Used to hate when I would get sativa before I had this really good Jack Herer. Me and sativa get along a little better these days lol.
Problem for me is since I live in the middle of the ocean, and no dispensary, I am limited to what I can get in seed form. I don't mind European genetics, but I really want to get a hold of some west coast variety.

I wanted to give it a run, but decided to grow some more beginner friendly varieties first. The one I smoked, the buds looked like boomerangs from the foxtails lol. Ya, I guess spicy would be the best way to describe the taste. I also noticed that the smoke was completely white in the glass. Could take monster rips since it hit so smooth.

A little update on the "Martian Kush" from DNA.
I was a little wary of the awkward smell at first but it finished out nice. tastes great in the pipe. Dank and hard to hold in... as mentioned earlier, perfect for sea of green, and for a "kush" (ha) sure has sativa traits. Shoots up fast and furious in veg and does the "grows taller as it flowers" thing. I had one in a small cup equal the weight of a larger one so flowering young is what I recommend.
Potency: Some of the strongest weed I've grown yet mental wise. Super head rushes! Will wail your noggin... Totally surprised and impressed by the punch. Great for hash making also (high yield return)
Im keeping this strain for my top 4 among
Gumdrop (local) Blueberry (dutch passion) Chem dog (green house)

Here's Dutch Passion's blueberry. I started out not liking this strain but its been kept as one of the only 2 of my original 8 test strains. The chem dog and this. What I didnt like is the bushy vine like growth parameters. Its so dense it is its own shade bush. but I found that propping sideways on a raised bucket them up so the light gets through the sides helps it thrive... This one is a little shrub. (Last pic is blurry but its the only one of the whole plant)
Really unique and nice taste/smell. The body buzz is a creeper and wil make you feel very tired!

Yo Oeric! That moby dick turned out decent. It didn't have as much flavor as I thought it would considering the smell. The clone didn't survive the transfer unfortunately. Popped the last seed and this one is a super lanky sativa. Hopefully I get some more lemon magic lol.
How do you like that blueberry? Is it similar to the one from DJ Short? A really bushy bitch lol.

Man... I am still mourning the loss of the moby dick. Mine was extremely flavorfull. It was the lanky sativa type also...
The blue: Yeah its really bushy. Loose, fluffy buds too no matter what. Its the thai I think... The buzz is a real creeper on the body! tasty shit tho. Like sour semi ripe blueberries
I have some exciting chem crosses and just popped a "bubba's dog" seed... (chem x bubba kush)
I have now:
Chem dog x northern lights Chem dog x bubblegummr Chem dog x martian kush Chem dog x gumdrop Chem dog x bubba kush. (Named it bubbas dog) Chem dog selfies
Bukakkied the room! Yayyy
Luckily the reversed pollen wasnt too potent and only made a few select seeds so all my harvest is mainly sensi anyway!
Im psyched about the crosses Chem was the absolute dankest but leggy growth
Im also 100% organic now with living soil....im happy about that too! The plants are thriving in it and zero chems

After this run I'm going to run 4 or 5 larger plants and manifold them to deal with the stretch and the lanky ass branches. I'll do a log for that too. It could be useful for the community since I don't really see anybody doing it.
Those crosses sound pretty tasty. Bubba's dog sounds epic lol. For some reason, most "blue" crosses taste horrible to me too. I like the original blueberry though. Maybe just the way they were grown too. I am pretty set on buying some bubbashine crosses next run and make some f2's to dive into those genetics. Let us know how those crosses turn out for ya.
