(4) 1000w or (6) 600w?

I'm torn. I'm working in another room which can fit up to 6 hoods but I'm not sure if I should go for the 600 or 1k. I'm used to running 1k bulbs but get the feeling I can scrog with 600w and yield as much maybe faster. Any thoughts from the veterans?

What on earth makes you think 6 600s which is 3600 watt, will out produce 4 1000s which is 4000 watts??? And how would it be faster?
In my experience more light the better.

How about 6,000W? The hoods don't change size just because the bulb does, buy a big ass fan to keep that place cool and crank it up.

If you have room for 6 hoods I would go with 6 1000 watters.

Although I guess the real question here is the size of your space. I had two hoods over a 4x4 area and I went with 2x600W because 2kW in that area would have roasted my plants alive.

All depends on the height restrictions you're dealing with. I run six 1000 watt lights in my basement. I only have 7' to work with. If my plants stretch too much the canopy begins to bleach out.

Room is 6.5'X10' and I see my options as being 4000w spread over 4 hoods or 3400w spread over 6 hoods. I'm used to vegging around 4-6 weeks training the shit out of my plants and shoving 9 under 1k. However I could veg 2 weeks and cram 20 or more per light and run a trellis.
Anyone have experience with both grow styles? If scrog can really do 1oz per plant without needing a light strong enough to get through the canopy maybe I can save some bucks on wattage.
Option 1) 1oz per plant @ 20 per hood with 6 hoods = 120oz with a 2 week veg
Option 2) 3oz per plant @ 9 plants per hood with 4 hoods = 108 oz after a month or more veg

Honestly, I still vote for 6 x 1000W. For a room that size you really won't be wasting light, but 6 x 600W and 4x 1000W will be underpowered.

If you get a big enough ventilation fan, any amount of light is doable. Get two 8 or 10-inch Vortex fans in there (each one pulling from 3 flow hoods) and life will be grand.

A couple 8" vortex fans would be nice. Have a couple cool tubes and 1000w lumatec ballasts in there now. I'll just keep adding 1000w at a time till I see issues if any.

And you probably don't even need to go with cooltubes. Any sealed and vented reflector will be plenty effective for keeping your garden cool, and you'll get better light usage from your bulbs if they're in a proper hood.

I'm putting some old shit in there for now and what I have is cool tubes. I could put generic magnum hoods in there and have basically no space between hoods. This will be my step up from a single lighter so it's a bit of a learning experience. Also the first time I have to worry about odor control which kind of sucks.

Well fuck yeah if you have it already then use it for sure. And yeah odor control is a bitch. Just knock like 50-100cfm off both of your fans right there.

Yeah still ironing out the details on the odor. At least I have a good month or more to worry about that.

How tall and dense do you let your canopy get with 600w?
