Yeah just dont let the hugo dry TOO much...the goal is to encourage the roots to go deeper in search of water, that way they get established in the slab fast.
Again, make sure to condition the slabs properly. Its a lil more, sometimes you need to flush to waste then add nutes. They usually come with instructions on the package so just double check.

A lot of people think rockwool has a high pH but its actually from built up deposits. Once you rinse it its pretty neutral.
That being said, its not really a big deal cuz youre gonna be washing out the deposits anyways when you water the first couple times and the pH will stabilize. Just soak em really well and let them drain.
If youre hand watering you should have more even moisture and a more stable ph if you top water, which is why a lot of huge rockwool grows do drip...although ebb and flo works just as well if you manage it right.
Check this out for everything you need to know about rockwool Grodan Faq
This should also help

how long can a plant stay in a 8 in rockwool cube, because the roots come out of the bottoms pretty quick.

Also i have three small clones about 2.5in tall inside a humidity dome they all have a few roots coming out of the bottoms of the 1.5in rock wool cubes they're in. Should i take them out of the dome and put under direct light from my CFLs with the other plants?

You can leave it in the big mama and itll reach a max size eventually. If you wanna get it huge then put the mama on top of a slab.
The roots wont get rootbound like in a soil pot. They will just come out the cube and get air pruned...not a big deal
Big mamas are pretty big...
As for your clones, if you see good roots comin out then transplant them and move into veg.
