So, opinions

I got in an argument earlier about the constitution, and how important it was. I said that the constitution shouldn't be put up on a pedestal like it is, as I don't really believe a bunch of Racist old white guys from 200 years ago wrote the perfect constitution. -His melting started here-
Then I started talking about how "rights" are completely abstract, and that they are a social construct with no basis in the natural world.
What are your opinions of the constitution, and what do you think of rights?

As you say, nobody, not even today, can make a perfect thang. Thats my opinion.

I believe it is the greatest document of it's time. It set a very important precedent for the rights of people
While I dont believe it is perfect, that is why there have been amendments added over time

Indeed. Culture was quite different 300 years ago. While there may be many things involved that on the surface look arrogant and bigoted, the truths contained within of governance cannot be refuted. Interactions between man are still pretty much the same fundamentally now as then.

If it worked like it was supposed to it would deserve the status it holds.
If.

The greatest thing we have is our human rights. Yet, it is never taught to us.
Ever wonder why?
Countries are not what you think they are. Countries are Corporations, and citizens is just another term for "slave"
You child are a slave on a corporation plantation. They day you were born your mother gave you to the plantation aka corporation...aka...country.
How does it feel to know you and I are a slave?
All rights have become privileges and about the only think you can do that is not illegal and taxed is to fuck.
But the fully thing is about being fucked is that it is a direct analogy with that the system has always done to you...fuck you hard up the ass
A wonderful thought for the day eh

Might makes right, unfortunately liberal fagg0try seems to be the mightiest ideology among the herd of masturbating masses.
Lysander Spooner said: "But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."
As far "old white racists" (herp to the derp), it is a document unlike any at its time, and even though its impotent and worthless, it's ideals are superior to the ones our current society is reaching for, which will lead to its eventual collapse.

Something being a "social construct" doesn't mean it isn't very real in it's manifestation. Rights are safeguards, essentially an expression of "I don't want you to do X to me, so I assert that I have the right to not be X'd", of course it requires actual force to back up such an assertion.
When assertion and power combine we get material rights, regardless of how idealist they may be.

Being Canadian you dont really get to chime in on the US Constitution.
But we certainly arent slaves.. Saying we are slaves is ignorant as shit to people who live in a country where slavery existed

Even the human rights are made by a specific culture and isn't necessarely adapted to everywhere, it was made by occidentals, constructed by an occidental way of seeing life that isn't shared everywhere on the globe.

I just think that anyone who bitches about quality of life in America has a fucking clue about the world and therefore shows their overall ignorance
There are people all over the world who dont even have clean drinking water, food to eat, or under rule of dictators and people want to bitch about being "slaves," just because they have to pay taxes or whatever other absurd rationale they have
Go travel a bit and get back to me on how bad life in America is

How can you say the constitution is the most moral document of it's time? It was inspired by things that were written a while before, in Europe. Human rights and equality have been on paper since the Renaissance, before America was even named.
Also, US was one of the last in the world to stop slavery. Then it took 100 years to make it seem like black people aren't hated, IN the constitution. Slavery was not even inherent in Europe. Only in the US owners could BREED slaves.
All of those "horrible third world countries" are laughing their asses of at how ignorant/stupid/fat America is. No one in Ukraine believes I'm learning what I'm learning in college. Cause We all already learned it in 6th grade. I didn't even try talking about the family of hippos eating fried chicken ON the beach IN a tent...every 10 yards...all summer
Before you feel bad for the rest of the world, take a good look around urself. It may be bleached good by mass media, but it's still the asshole of the world.

Just to troll a bit, Slaves in the US enjoyed more material comforts and sometimes more freedoms than Africans living still in Africa at the time. Does that make it right? Who cares.

I think none of those things, and I'm a left winged libertarian. So I'm pretty liberal, just not super authoritarian. I just think that when people go crazy and are like HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE CONSTITUTION. I'm all like "and I'm the one you say is drinking the "koolaid"?
I just know that corporations as a whole don't have man kinds best interest at hand. I've given up even calling myself a democrat at this point (though I only called myself so I could label what I feel). Both sides of the aisle are so corrupt it's not even funny.
I've really gotten to the point where the main thing, other than education, that I care about is creating a culture that is sustainable.

Agreed!
Talking about human rights though, what does make us humans so special? We're the most destructive species to set foot on this planet from what I can tell. I feel like they are protections for specific mindsets of a "golden rule" way of thinking. I just don't like absolutes, and that's where I have to biggest problem with people that say "if we let them do x then they will do 5x." They are literally, by definition, committing a slippery slope fallacy.
I wish one of the basic human rights was just "the government cannot enact a law that restricts what a citizen can do if it is a victimless act."

Other than other necessary reforms in the justice system, I feel like life or death sentences should lead to slavery for those able. Earn your keep at the prison instead of draining on the economy.
Would there be forced slavery, or would you want one to have to contract into slavery? What are slaves children's status, if the slave is only contracted?
I feel as though another big thing is we have to get a lower population. And I'm not suggesting anything to deal with that.
But it's a fact. "The green revolution" and other industrial improvements have encouraged us into to much growth. And I'm not one to blame one to want to be as prosperous as possible, but I feel we all yearn for individual goals that are sometimes campaigns against the whole of us. Certain industries, in the pursuit of profits, do some very very bad things. I only wish I knew if they were truly ignorant, or if they just didn't care.
