I am interested in growing one or two plants for my own personal use. But I have a a dilemma. My husband and I live with my parents, and while my father is understanding and supportive of my choices regarding marijuana, my mother does not tolerate it.
I would like to try and grow outdoors. I have several plant beds in our yard and many of them are overgrown. It wouldn't be hard for me to tuck a pot behind some of the existing plants where it would be hidden from view unless you were looking for it.
So, my main question is this - if my plants don't get constant light during the vegetative state, is it even worth it to try? My main concern was placing the immature plants outside to where they would be getting a light/dark cycle right off the bat, rather than having a constant light cycle and then a light/dark cycle. Would doing this cause very early flowering?

if you plant it during april, then let nature take care of it. the natural sun hours will occur and you'll see it to start budding around september-october.

Also depending on where she lives it could be way too cold to do any good right now.
I would recommend waiting until you move out of your parents house.

Could you start them off inside under cfl or something up a few inches tall? At that point, if you cleared out a small area of ground for a couple plants..how many hours of light would they be getting a day? As in direct light.
To answer your question, no they won't flower early because of shade. But if they aren't getting enough light they won't grow well. 6-7 hours of direct light is fine to get them to grow, hopefully closer to 8-11 when they get taller to flower well.
The type of area I think you're describing is my favorite area to grow outside. Scrub areas where you can hide one or two plants and no one will ever care or think to look. If you could post a picture of the general area, I could give you a better idea of what would be possible.
Edit: You're talking about putting plants out in the spring, right? Or am I misunderstanding?

I used to grow pot. I still do grow pot, but I used to grow it too.

ive heard some people say that when flowering, even the slightest bit of light from the outside could confuse the plant, even moonlight.. how can that be true if marijuana can flower naturally outdoors...in the moonlight..

Perhaps providing what are otherwise unnaturally consistent conditions makes our plants more sensitive to changes?
I have heard this as well...ie. "the light of a candle across the room", etc.
Good luck,
JD

Iv grown plants in a park canyon with ambient light from a storage building close by. And I currently have my veg and bloom in the same tent ( it's a fucking nightmare and I strongly advise against it) and they are still blooming. Just slow. I'm taking care of the veg issue today in fact so I can keep on track with my harvest date. They will grow fine but avoiding the issue will avoid problems later on.
