 lighting/grow question

hey guys just been doing some thinking and was wondering something. For lighting I thought read something along the lines that a plant does not need as much lighthing in vegging as it does flowering is this true?
if so I was wondering about some thing. I am planning on doing two grow tents 4x8x8 each have two hid lights 600 each. Now under each light would be 4 plants. and im going to rotate them once every onth so that I can harvest 4 plants every month, so two months in veg and two months in flowering(give or take depending on when the platns ready of corse).
So my question is would I be better off using two 400 watt lights for the in the veg tent and two 1000 watt lights in the flowering tent? by doing it that way would I get more yield or would I be about the same by having just 600 watt lights for all lights?

thanks hawk, yah I was thinking that because the plants in the vegging tent would be smaller so they would not need as much light and with going into the flowering tent they would be a lot bigger so would need more light to penetrate the plant when its taller were as veg plants would not need as much to penetrate

Because you can go either way. The more I though about it, the more I started thinking that if it were me I would do 2 400 watt light in my veg, and 2 1000 watt in my grow room.

kk bust let me ask you this for 4 plants that are going to veg for two months do u think that a 400 watt light will be a enoff or do u think that using a 600 watt light would would give the plants to grow bigger then under a 400 watt?
sorry if im commign across as a pain in the ass im trying trying to figure out all my options. Still waiting to find out if im going to be approved to be a care giver so im just trying to use this time to figure out as much as possible

Sure a 600 would be better, but you don't really need much for the vegging, that's why I said 2 400 watt. sure 2 600 watt would be better, but is it really needed. IMO, not for the size your doing.

If it were me I'd run the 400s in veg and the 1ks in flower.
