To grow my plants in, what should I build it out of? Is there a way to build some kind of cheap-ish greenhouse setup for it?

ebay "grow tent" or buy some panda film (black/white poly) and enclose an area.

That looks pretty awesome, though I wouldn't mind making it myself and saving some cash, are there any tutorials? I remember I used to have a few good ones bookmarked but now I can't find them.

All you need to start is some panda film /black ad white poly/ then build a frame out of wood or plastic tubing, be sure to seal the corners to allow no light leaks.
