I've done a lot of study and watched some videos too and I think the only thing that came close to controlling the size of the plant in veg is topping it.
But what I understood is that topping it will just make it even bigger and if you keep topping it then it can become harmed. And if you tie it down then it's still increasing in size but in width.
They say in the guides "Now I'll just let my veg plants sit here until I've harvested my flowering plants". So what I want to know is how can he just let his ready veg plants sit there without them increasing in size anymore?
Thanks, That was a great thread. Learned tons from it!
Just a question about FIM vs normal topping.. You make the cuts at the same location except that with FIM you make a circular cut instead.. but they are in same location otherwise?
And they said you can make a FIM cut the easy way by just topping at the same place 2 times instead of 1? So you don't have to make any circular cut.
Ugh....FIM is a real bitch to get down perfectly. What you try and do is cut at the growing apex, where all the cells are dividing, not where you cut when topping.
But I've never found it worth it. I much prefer to just top and tie down. I get much better results.
