Suggestions on homemade soil mix?

Hello all, I'm a regular at the Shroomery and decided it was time to give this a go, so here I am!
Simply looking for some feedback on the ratio of materials I have readily available and plan to use as a soil mix, and whether or not they would be fine to use as is or if I need to add something more.
-Plenty of cow, horse, and possibly even chicken manure. -Vermiculite and Perlite (To break the mix up a bit.) -Piles of dead leaves, grass, general yard and field trash. -Fairly good quality topsoil. -Blackstrap molasses to use in watering.
Would these be sufficient to use in a mix, and at what ratio? (Minus the molasses, I know how to use that.)

Fuck all that shit for the beginner. Go with FF Ocean Forest. Straight forward soil.

the manures and yard waste are only good if thoroughly composted. you'd be better off with sphagnum/perlite or coco/perlite mix. that's all most store bought soils are.

it's absolutely clear.
the ganja herb is the healing of the nation.

Roughly how far does a 12qt bag of the FF OF go? 1-2 plants worth?

Well that's all going to depend on how big your container is.

Forgot to include that I thought of starting them in 18 oz. plastic cups, then moving up to 3 or 5 gallon buckets.

FWIW (and this is likely little) my mycological background would insist that any home-made soil be at least pasteurized.
....but then I would want to check on beneficial microorganisms that typical past temps might kill.
BTW, I chose to go with FFOF for my grow.
Take care,

Is this to kill harmful/useless microorganisms, freeing up nutrients for the beneficial ones?
Please elaborate.

Yes, the whole point of pasteurization is to kill any harmful bacteria. Once You take outdoor soil and put it into an artificial environment, the balance of good and bad bacteria that happens outdoors can become imbalanced.

Right. We pasteurize mushroom substrates at 140-160F for 90 minutes.
This leave beneficial bacteria alive, but kills mold spores and other nasties.
I am pretty sure that nematodes are killed too, and so this might be a less than perfect effect, from the perspective of a bud grower.
This side is relatively new to me, so I will stop here.
Take care,
JD
