Hi everyone,
Just wondering if ocean forrest would be good to mix with some promix or if i would be better off using strait ocean forest or maybe a mix of FFOF and light warrior?
My friend is telling me its not good to use straight ffof and would be better to mix with promix, but i just cant see how.
Thanks

If you add 50% ProMix you would be treating it more like a soilless than a soil. FFOF is mixed hot but you would still expect to run out of nutrients in the soil after a few weeks of veg so expect that sooner if you add ProMix.
If you plan to go this route, you'll need to purchase some nutrients and you may want to add 1.5 tbsp dolomite lime to each gal of FFOF to keep the pH stable and feed around pH of 6.2
As said this route probably isn't the best idea if you don't want to have to further amend your soil or buy bottled nutrients.

thanks for the reply! I did buy some pureblend pro grow bloom and karma, but since this is my 1st grow, I just want to complicate it as little as possible. Do you think i would be better using just straight fox farms and not feeding for the first few weeks, or maybe mix the FFOF with something different?
Thanks again

For me to keep it easy, id go with a soilless mix and then use fox farms. I was reading the organics for beginners thread and they have some great soilless mixes there. you can feed your seedlings nutes , just use a low concentration . I also like to add worm castings and use Nitron A 35, its basically a soil condtioner and works great in conjunction with the the castings. Then i like to add superthrive to the water as well.

Miracle grow is highly recommended for beginners... Wait for the soil to be leached of nutes before using any ferts. Then when moving on to ferts make sure you work your way up. Start off with 1/4 strength recommended doses so the plants can acclimate.

I wouldn't recommend it but I've seen "Brand Name" bud grown in Miracle Grow and standard Miracle Grow powder/crystal formula for tomatoes.

Yeah I'm sure it can be grown in, and I know your are not recommending it, but in no way is it a soil a new grower should touch.

50/50 premixed soil and perlite for a rapid drain medium. This is especially excellent if useing hydroponic nutes (A&B mixtures and other concentrate nutes) or advanced nutrients chart stuff like that.
