DirectTV has been saying they doubt it will last long until they get the channels back / they are working on not raising price for said channels (if/when) they return

Viacom (Sumner Redstone) has an over-inflated ego and is attacking DirecTV subscribers' wallets to try to pad his already fat stack. The man got a 39% boost in compensation ($21 million) in 2011. According to a January 28th, 2012 article in the LA Times,
Viacom's executives were among the highest paid in America. CEO Dauman took home $84.5 million in 2010 and $43 million in 2011!!! COO Dooley got $34 million in 2011! This company is swimming in money and does not need mine!

good thing i don't give a fuck about television programming and just download everything.
once youtube started chucking commercials into their bullshit i stopped going there as often, too.

Shitty thing about my cable company is, they have really been cracking down on torrents. Even with peerblocker and stuff
I have gotten several warnings threatening to disconnect my internet
Sucks. I still torrent stuff from time to time but I have to make sure it is already out on DVD or close and make sure it is a direct demonoid file

yeah i got one of those warnings once, then i simply changed internet providers. that's also when i decided to only use Demonoid. haven't gotten any since.
i feel like, at some point, simple television programming will be phased out and the future will probably be some combination of Netflix and TiVo.
I am going to take advantage of the anarchy that is the internet for as long as possible, though. It's only a matter of time before a bunch of old coots start shitting themselves over the fact that no government or institution is directly controlling the content on it. All it takes is some dumbass kid trying make napalm in his basement and burning his family alive. Before we know it all the concerned citizens will blame the internet for not being responsible parents and facilitate some new Tipper Gore-esque outrage. That is... assuming it hasn't already happened.
