Idk man theres not any ONE thing you're supposed to do. If you like your yields and quality just using HID lighting, I say do that. For me, I like using supplementary lighting on the lower levels. Helps me max out yield among other techniques. But you dont NEED supplementary lighting at all.

It's definitely possible.  I got that with my last yield.  But I've been growing for a few years now.  Don't expect that type of yield.

oh ok cool, well i do understand that it will take time to be able to learn what to do to get top yeilds,  but at the same time i want to get all the right types of lighting so i can have the abilty to be able to produce it when i know what im doing instead of having to change out my lights and wast alot of money.

Now for the lights What are t5 lights? are they the same as the HID?  or is one better then the other?

You want HID.  It's more investment up front.  But it will pay off in the long run.  T5's are a type of high output floro.

MH and HPS are both forms of HID.

You get better results flowering with HPS but I've seen posts on a few forums of folks doing a full grow cycle with MH bulbs. Nugs end out looking like popcorn buds but hey.

ok well i been reading this book growing elite marijauana and in the lighting chapter it says that with a 400 wat hid light i can get about grow 13 plants with it.. is that true? if so i would assume that i would not be able to get the plants to grow tha tall and get a high yeild...i would like to try to get the plants up to the 4-6 foot range if possible..

Dude even a 1000 HPS only has about three foot of penetration.
4 to 6 foot is a bit of over kill.
I myself shoot for 16 to 28 inches, averaging around an oz per plant, four plant per square foot, and with a 400 watt HPS.

hahah 4-6 feet

ya, go ahead and try that, then 3 weeks into flowering a 6 foot plant, you're going to have a tree taller than your house.
