a question about vegging light hours

ive heard to veg them for 24 hours a day and ive also heard 18/6 a day.
does it matter? id like to throw mine onto a timer so i can give both the light and the plant a rest for a few hours. i figure it would be in the best interest of both the plant and i, if i were to use a timer at 18/6. id save a little bit more money a month, which is always nice.
but i have some clones that havent fully rooted yet, how would they take to the 18/6 lighting switch? or do they need 24 hour light constantly until rooted? i mean, they have roots, just not coming out of the bottom quite yet., just not out of the bottom yet, and its under a 150 watt HPS. i figured it wouldnt kill em. theyre far enough away to get burned up.

it depends 100% on who you ask. some people swear 24 hours of light is the best, some people swear that 20/4 or 18/6 is the best. since cannabis is a C4 plant they don't actually need the darkness for them to complete their secondary photosynthetic pathways, but I still give mine a little darkness every day, if nothing else than just to give them some sort of photoperiod so it's not a shock when I cut it down to 12/12.
I veg at 21/3. don't ask me why, I'm weird, and that's the way I do it.

I normally run either 18/6 , or 24/0 for veg...
but I used to set it to 16/8 to save electricity $

I use 20/4, but mainly because 1pm to 5pm is the hottest time of the day.

I like 24 on in veg.
It lets me have the flexibility of when I want to flower them.
With no night cycle ever initiated I can begin it at any time I desire.

24 for me as well. I have noticed no draw backs to this as of yet, except maybe a slightly higher electric bill.

As long as the plants get 18 hrs of light, both those things are true.

i think what he's saying is that if your 20/4 cycle has lights off from 1-4pm, you can't have the night cycle for flowering start at 9pm and run until 9am or they're going to freak out initially

I also do this with the fluorescent lights. The 1000 watt gets 18/6.

I used to use 24/0 but have since switch to 18/6. I've noticed no difference in growth and it saves some electricity.

I'm a 18/6 myself. I run the lights at night. Cooler in the summer warms the room at the coolest part of the day in the winter.
