Driving while high is actually safer than driving when not high

Apparently it's safer, according to studies - http://www.4autoinsurancequote.org/uncategorized/reasons-why-marijuana-users-are-safe-drivers/
Thoughts on this? I seem to drive like a retard when I'm high. I blow thru stop signs, etc. Do any of you actually drive better high?
I cannot make any sense of this, lol./

I don't, but I can see how some people would. I don't like driving to begin with and when I'm high I'm just a lot more nervous.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Oh me to. But you're reaction time is still affected. Best to drive sober.

Yeah... for better or for worse, your judgement is still impaired, and your frame of mind is not the same when high.
If you can pass all of your drivers tests high, maybe then it's a bit easier to accept it. But I still don't think that's a good idea.

Ya but it cites sources from the NHTSA and stuff. It must be at least somehwat legitimate. I'm in the same boat tho, I can't see how it's possible. Whenever I'm stoned behind the feel, I'm a danger to society.

Quote:
1. Drivers who had been using marijuana were found to drive slower, according to a 1983 study done by U.S. National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). This was seen as a factor in their favor, since drivers who drank alcohol usually drove faster and that is part of the reason they had accidents.
assuming that they actually quoted the study correctly (notice they didn't actually include any language from it or offered a real citation)the above would not indicate people driving high actually drove safer than those that were not. Only that they drove "slower". Which begs the question: "slower than what?"
And here is another example of shady citations and inferences:
Quote:
5. States that allow the legal use of marijuana for medical reasons are noticing less traffic fatalities; for instance, in Colorado and Montana there has been a nine percent drop in traffic fatalities and a five percent drop in beer sales.
this is an example of "cum hoc ergo propter hoc", or "Correlation does not imply causation". This is because the mere association of two points of data does not demonstrate an actual relationship between them. The classic example of this, that has become popular in recent years, is the correlation in the decrease of pirates in the caribbean and global warming.
Basically there are plenty of other plausible explanations for those decreases (and the author could even be ignoring a larger trend), besides legalization of medical use.

I got into a car accident once because I was smoking with my buddy in the car. It's not that it makes you drive worse, but like it was said, it slows your reaction time. And when we were on that highway and an unexpected construction site caused all cars to shift into the right lane, I was just lucky enough to slam on the brakes hard enough to avoid total collision. Smoke at home or in nature, kids.
