Currently HID is better plain and simple. LEDs have come a long ways, but still yet have a long ways to go.

Yes see, Ive herd both sides of this.. thats why Im doing this poll.
Ive seen a grow log with 1 plant, an autoflower at that, in DWC under 300watts LED that produced 360 grams in 70 days >.<
That was one case, but any led grow log, I have never seen bad results..
But LED is pricey and if u get a cheap one not built right with the right chips its useless..

I've tested several LEDs, and have seen some great results myself. But it hasn't changed my opinion, that HID is still supreme.

Thank you sir for your input
Im thinking going with a Black Star 240watt 6 band LED light, instead of a 400watt hps,
Mainly because No heat problems and IR signature.

HID for the win.
This has been gone over time and again and again and again and again. LEDS can give good results. But are VERY expensive and just don't compare to HID lights.
I don't know about Florida. But I'm pretty sure that it's against the law to use FLIR without a warrant for it first. It definitely is in my state.

Nope Florida is not the sunshine state, its the fuckin police state
They do regular fly overs all year and during the fall they are out like cock roaches lookin in the woods.
But I see local police chopper fly over all the time.
In Florida dude, they gt away with so much it is stupid.
9 out of 10 times you get pulled over here for a out tail light or tag light, your light works. They just make up an excuse to pull you.
You can refuse search, but they can bring k9, then they will jsut say the dog hit even if it doesnt.. and then tear your car apart..
That should give you an idea of how things work here... lol

My problem with this poll is that it's not that simple, cut and dry. You need to define your parameters in order to define "better."
Price? Light intensity? Wavelength customization? Heat output? Customization potential for odd shaped grow spaces?
I just smoked and bowl and did yoga so I'm full retard right now, but I hope that still makes sense.

lol I understand what your saying
Basicly, I like what Ive seen with LEDS, Especially the Black Star 240 and 180w. I am going to get a 240 and a 180, so a combined 420 watts of the same leds, waves, bands ect. combined with hempy or dwc, i know it will be epic
It will suit me better, no cooling issues, no loud vent fan needed. Can use 90 mm cpu fans to circulate air in the tent lol.
When I build my grow room this summer, then yes, Ima get a 1000watt HPS maybe even two. but for now ima dip 450$ into l.e.d technology.
Thanks for all your input. Delete this crappy thread if you want lol

Not a 100% sure on this but aren't LED companies unreliable for the most part, for instance if it looks like your getting a good deal on an LED system chances are it's probably junk compared to what you could get for HID with the same amount of $$.

Just keep in mind, you'll still need a good rate of air exchange.

In a lot of ways you're right. Most companies lie about the square footage they cover, and most of the time they lie about the HID equivalent. But in this case Blackstar is a food unit for the price.
