which oil: butter, olive, vegetable or coconut

There are many different oils to use in cooking cannabis.
I have tried most of them and the best one is Coconut oil.
If you are using any of the other oils get some coconut oil and try that in your recipe you will see a doubling of your potency guaranteed
I just cooked a batch of vaped herb in some clarified butter since I was low on coconut oil hoping that it would work as well as coconut oil but was sadly, SADLY mistaken
Never again will I use anything but coconut oil for my edibles

How is it close minded to state a fact?
I tried all other oils for cannabis cooking and coconut oil is FAR superior to any other oil. That's the opposite of close minded. I tried other oils and they sucked HARD.
coconut oil doesn't taste like coconut
it has the highest saturated fat of any oil, so it is the best oil for cannabis infusion.
Cannabis bonds to saturated fats, so you're not going to find a better oil for cannabis than coconut oil.

He's not saying its the best oil. He's saying it might not be the only thing that works that well...
Because by your logic More Saturated Fat means more THC uptake than lard should be the best.

I've been working with power tools since I was 8, my dad is an electrical engineer who owned a 280 gal fish tank, and I studied biology with a specialty in genetics. Getting dirty comes naturally. I think my parents inadvertently trained me to be a weed grower.
See what you think on my first try.

Lard is only ~41% saturated fat Coconut oil is ~90% saturated fat
There is no other commercially available oil with a higher level of saturated fat than coconut oil
This is not an opinion, it is a cold hard fact
obviously some people don't like to be told that their method can be improved upon

Mixing butter and oil, about 1 part butter to 3 part oil roughly maybe a little more depending on the size of pot and how much you are making, canola oil for some reason this has been my best combo.
For firecrackers I use 1 part butter to 3 parts peanut butter and go through a few other steps that have helped me with those anyway.

Interesting.
I came here hoping to learn a bit about cooking with weed, cuz I have cholesterol probs, and also wanted to get high without smoking, cuz smoking is hard on cardio.
Reading that the best pot recipes are the highest in saturated fats isn't good news to me. I've been purposely avoiding coconut oil for that reason, in regular foods.
Maybe I should stick to smokin it. What do you think?

You could try using a glycerine tincture

So how do I go about replacing the butter I use in my recipes with coconut oil then?
Is it a 1:1 ratio or what?
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Yea, just use the same amount of coconut oil as you would butter.
I found my coconut oil at the local Wal-Mart with the other oils
Im sure you can find some at Amazon.com

OK, cool, thanks. I didn't really know where to look...and I wanted to make sure I got the right thing, so online would be best :P
Some looked like liquid, some looked like a solid, so I wasn't sure. Also some of the "oils" were more like "essences". I knew that was wrong, and didn't wanna get fooled :P
I'll totally be giving this a try. Science says it should work.

Coconut oil is solid at room temp like lard.
Check your local grocery store before buying online

The addition of soy lecithin will actually help reduce the bad cholesterol associated with the coconut oil
There are studies that show soy-derived lecithin has significant effects on lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL ("good cholesterol") levels in the blood.

There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are not harmful as it happens in case of other vegetables oils. It does not lead to increase in LDL levels. It also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis.

I'm a chef and whenever I'm cooking, I always mix butter with olive oil.
I wonder if that will work as well? I might have to try doing that soon.
On that note, I need to make a new batch of "herbed butter"
