my little Bonsai tree:-)
    #602209 - 12/20/11 06:09 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So,I started this Pithecellobium flexicaule from seed last year, and so far I've been doing a good job at keeping it growing Bonsai style:-)I now wish I would have grown a few more,as these trees are perfect for Bonsai. What do you guys think, pretty cool eh?

What kind of snakes? Do you feel that any of them have their own personalities?

You have reminded me that I need to go water my bonsais. They're probably more like trees now though =P

They are worm snakes, and yes, they do have their own personalities. Two are docile, and the larger, one flops around a bit when you try to handle him/her.I hope they will breed, because they make awesome pets, especially for children, because they don't bite, are very docile, don't get big,and only eat worms:-)You got pics of your bonsai?

My mate had a carpet python but the poor girl got cooked one day when the thermostat broke.

I don't have any pics of my bonsai but that's probably a good thing since they've been so neglected. My brother has an awesome Canadian maple bonsai. The ones I got were inherited. I appreciate them but I'm more concerned with looking after my ethnobotanicals at the moment but gardening in general brings me peace.

Do you grow any ethnobotanicals apart from cannabis?

At the moment I have B. Caapi and P. Viridis (the plants used for ayahuasca), catha edulis (khat), argyreia nervosa, rivea corymbosa, T. Pachanoi, T. Bridgesii and a kratom plant. I have a bunch of seeds I need to plant which include L. Williamsii (var caespitosa), mimosa tenuiflora, acacia and others that I can't recall at the moment.

I also grow shrooms as I need them to abort my migraines.

There's something satisfying about growing something from almost nothing and part of the appeal of having these plants is that some are rare and exotic and aren't easy to grow.

I also grow a bunch of edibles. Next on my list of things to add are the peruvian apple cactus and prickly pear.

Have your prickly pear and peruvian apple cactus produced fruit yet? If so then how do they taste?

Also, do you collect the pollen from your peruvian apple cactus?

That sucks man,and no,I hate to say it,but I lost interest in most all Cacti after I left Florida.I had to sell all my prime specimens, some of which I owned for many years, and I just never started up again.I like plants that I have uses for, like for instance,I can smoke weed, and eat the Tomatoes I grow.Cacti serve no purpose for me,and just take up valuable space that I could be growing some useful plants in,except for my Prickly pears, which I eat,and my cereus. That's all I'll probably ever own again in the cactus department.

Yeah, I also want to grow plants that I have uses for. Lophs and Trichs have ethno uses and then you get the others that you can use for food. You can use the pads of the prickly pear to make nopales too. Another cactus you can get for food is dragon fruit.

It would depend on the type of plant that you use to make the bonsai. You would need to look up the growth parameters of the plant you want to grow. Some plants need warm weather and others don't mind cold weather. You can also bring plants inside and move them outside.

Canadian maple bonsai look awesome!
