Hows it going everyone. I've just found this site and so far I've found it to be very informative. I guess my first question to you all would be how many i should plants should I put in a 3 x 3 x 5 space. Also what type of lights should I go with. I'm new and this is my first grow so all info is appreciated. So far I have 10 seeds germinating that I got from my local seed bank. I have one t5 light but will be getting more. I am told the light is blue spectrum so great for veg.

are you planning on vegging and flowering in one closet?
10 plants will fit in there well if you flower them early enough
but you will possibly have males.
so imagine 5-7 plants from seed you could veg larger before flowering
if you had another closet, or a veg/mother space
you could take clones from each of your seed females.
flower a clone from each, or flower the seed moms to find your best performer
then fill your closet with that clone. 20 plants +/- flower small for SOG style grow. which would probably maximize your space(s)

Yeah I was gonna do it all (veg/flower) in the same space. I got a portable storage box that I've lined with Mylar. I was gonna just see how big they get and if I needed more space I would by a grow tent. How soon would you suggest I flower them at. What is the earliest that stems can support any weight. Also how soon can I find out which are males and which are females. Sorry about so many questions. Im new

some strains are too weak to hold their buds period
so dont worry too much about that
consider more the similarity of the strains youre working with
think about if you are going to top them, and start early
consider how tall, wide, lush (max, min) your plants will be in the closet
you can flower plants from seed. or even from cutting
or you can wait months
finding what works best with your set up takes time.
if vegging and flowering in the same closet i would suggest flowering small/early so you can get the next crop in
were you vegging in a separate space(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)and taking clones for your flowering closet you could induce flower anywhere from rooting, at obvious earliest, to a month or two depending on how you like to fill your closet.

I have four seedlings now but they don't seem to be growing very good. I have good soil which is damp and i have them under one t5 flouro about 2 inches away. But for 2 days they really haven't moved. I have them under 24 hour light also. One just dropped the seed but doesn't want to open up. ANY SUGGESTIONS

is it cold? too much water? can only guess
fertilizer? if so, possible lock due to seedlings inability to process the fertilizer

It could possibly be the temp. I have them in the basement under flouro's so Im guessing the temp is in the low 60's.

Those temps are what you want the "night cycle" to be at. With your lights on, it should be around 72-78. If you get colder than that, it'll inhibit your growth. You NEED a temperature gauge of some sort, and preferably a hygrometer as well. You can usually find a combo one at a hardware or gardening store for less than $15. Keeping the temperature at optimum levels is important to good fast growth.
Also, the type of water you use is important. Are you using straight tap water? If so, you need to let it sit out for at least 24 hours before using it. Otherwise it'll have too many chemicals in it (I want to say chlorine, but its early ass morning and my mind's not working at top performance yet... lol). You'll also want to PH balance your water as well. I'm not sure if a high or low PH will inhibit germination, but it will mess with how the plant uptakes its nutrients later on in life.
