If I have a grow tent with fans and what not to vent the heat/smell, and it is inside of a closet with no ventilation, will I have a problem of heat building up? Here is a pic to illustrate (to scale):

What is the volume of the closet itself? Either way I'm sure that if the closet itself doesn't have any ventilation, you'll have some heat issues. Not only that, but more importantly, cannabis needs lots of fresh air - you'll have to have constant air exchange for them. Is there any way you can ventilate the closet?

Any way you can leave the door cracked about 5-6 inches and put a tower fan in it ?

i grow in a tent, yes, you will have major heat issues. My tent sits around the 80's now and it sits in an empty room, not a closet. If you don't have a way to push the hot air out and bring in cool, fresh, air then you'll suffer from some pretty bad temperature issues.

How many watts do you want? What's the size of the tent? Do you use a carbon filter? What are normal temperatures in the summer?
It's likely that you will have a problem with heat. Depends on the space, power of your lamps, climate and isolation. It's best to have some flow of air between the the closet and the outside world.

T-5's run cooler, but, they can still get pretty warm.

Aren't HID/HPS lamps about as efficient as fluorescent lights?

Keep in mind that, no matter which lamp you go with to help with heat, you still have to ask yourself how the plants are going to be able to breathe.

Well im just going to add that a 250 watt HPS makes my whole room hot, like 77-80, until i turn on the ceiling fan and air it out to kick in the a/c.

The house stays 76, and u can feel a huge difference when u take a step from inside my room to right outside the room, its about, 12x12. Ive seen the part that the light is in get up to 90 degrees, and i was sweating my balls off when I woke up that night. It got that high because one of the exhausts wasnt working.
