I'm gonna be looking to get a permit and buy a handgun once I'm back in California, looking for my ideal (yet affordable) handgun. Any of you have your own? Show your stuff

agreed on handguns, not on guns tho, i have 306, .22 n a 12 guage plus some bows n cross bows all used for game tho not self defence....
but if u want a handgun go for a 357, cheap ones are 7mm, purse guns prolly cost you 300-600

No one can recommend an ideal gun for you if unless you talk about your needs. If you want to do a lot of shooting then caliber and your budget will play a big role in your decision. Ammo is getting really expensive.

My daddy recentley gave me a brand new browning bolt action 30.06
only been shot a few times but fuck i dont need a cannon to shoot little Texas white tail deer
My favorite caliber for all around small game shooting is a 243

no pistols though but when I do get one I'm probably going to get a walther P99.

You don't need a permit in California if you don't know that you don't need a handgun. Sig or smith n wesson would be my pick the 38 super is pretty badass but my favorite is my 380 auto.

Well, here's what I'm looking at at the moment. http://www.impactguns.com/wal-p22-22-34-ca-appr-10rd-cap22003-698958002704.aspx Semi-automatic, California approved, .22 LR rounds so they'll be cheap, a decent sized grip, 10 round magazine. If you have any suggestions with something cheaper with the same features I'd love to take a look at it. I've got a pretty sweet Winchester 30-30 and some off brand shotgun.
I'd really like to get my pistol permit before I'm a felon...
Once I do, I just want a small "pocket gun" that shoots .22's. I just want it for fun, so its not like I need anything more. And its so dirt cheap to get ammo for, it seems like the best option.
Or something like this

That Colt is pretty sweet, seems like a good substitute for a small revolver. Personally I'd go for something with a bigger magazine, even if it's just for fun, you're gonna be reloading A LOT..
Edit: Wow.. I just found a 33 round magazine for Glocks.. Makes me want one, even if it's out of my price range for now, having a 33 round magazine for only 20-30$ would be badass.. Too bad the limit in California is 10 round magazines.

Haha, I was watching a gang documentary and someone had one of those extended clips. He said when the cops see you with that they just keep going because they know they don't stand a chance.

.22 would be the best for starters, not many other calibers that you can target shoot all weekend with for $50.

Well, from what I hear .22s can be pretty damn deadly, since they supposedly tend to bounce around when they penetrate rather just go through and through. 
Maybe they're not as devastating as some other rounds, but it seems like they do a hell of a lot of damage if you take one to the chest.
