My new nugs smell like vegetation...

I just finished my grow. The strain was purple widow but it never did turn purple but when the plant was growing i never got a really strong odor in my grow closet but if i pinched a bud on the plant it smelled so dank. So i made it to harvest and cut her down trim the fan leaves and most of the sugar ones and leave it hung upside down in a ventilated room for a day and a half. I touched one of the buds and it was extremely dry. I put them in a tubberware container and checked on them after around 10 hours or so and then they were very fresh. The nugs smell exactly like fresh grass. Is this normal? Ive also tried putting them in a paper bag but it has only been a few days how long should it take and when will i know they will be ready to take a rip from?

I'd say it's normal for a beginner grow. Where did you get the seeds from? How did you know their strain?

So far you've only dried your buds, the cure is what gives them their final flavor and aroma profile. That grassy smell is very typical of uncured bud. Now that they're dry, put them in a glass jar and every day open it up and rearrange the buds (gently) so that the ones on bottom are on top and the ones on top are on bottom. Leave the lid off for a half hour or so and then wait 24 hours before repeating. After 2 weeks, only open the jar every 2 days, and after 3-4 weeks total your bud should smell and taste like...well...bud!

The best way to determine if your buds are dry is to try snapping the stem while they are hanging. they should snap like a dry twig. Then they are ready to go to the curing stage. I'd be very surprised if they were done in a day and a half unless you live in a desert or something.

nah, even in a desert that would be weird. It's usually only 15% humidity at the MOST where I live and it's still a good 3 days or so until I feel they're fully dry.

did you harvest on time?
also, in my opinion, you must slow-dry your bud in a dark & well-tempered cupboard/closet until a stem close to the bud snaps clean when you do it.
and after drying, most importantly, you must "cure" your weed in air-tight an air tight mason jar for a minimum of 3-6 weeds.
it's somewhat of a slow process but it's so worth it at the very end... all those methods make a very big difference... patience is key!!!

I don't think he was talking to you. Auto reply fail! I'm not sire he read the whole thread either since he pretty much repeated what had been said already. Don't blame him tho, he's a noob.

i also live in the desert where we're lucky to get 15% humidity...I'm worried that my nugs will dry too fast...should I use a humidifier?

Nope....I lived in a desert for years and buds came out just fine. I just decrease the amount of airflow moving through my drying space.

i was going to use one of the bathrooms. just block it off and not use it for a few days while stuff dries. there is A/C pumping directly into it, and it always stays dark and cool. you think that's sufficient?
