Picked this pretty lady up from the local Lowes today for 6 $
Now I want a purple and red one







An awesome addition to anyones flower garden

Or can be grown in a pot

well this one and the similar ones like it are going to take atleast 2-3 years to produce/bloom
Although the central plant dies after flowering, they produce "pups" that can be separated and potted up to form new plants

You can force bromeliads to flower by placing the plant inside a clear, airtight plastic bag with a ripe apple for two to three days. Depending on the type of plant you have, flowering will begin in six to fourteen weeks. After flowering, the parent plant dies. Offshoots, or pups, provide for the steady renewal of the plant

^ I'm going to try this on once I have about 3 or 4 of them to work with

Those are pretty cool plants. Posion Dart Frogs use them to house their tadpoles, pretty amazing.
