Driving cross country...
    #558701 - 05/26/11 06:44 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

hey kids,

well i finally decided this place is no longer good for me.  Im miserable enough to contemplate killing myself and decided after a bit of thinking i should get away n get some time to think 1st before doing that. its not for me, its for the people around me who love me and are important to me. if it was just me in this world, id end it.

anyway, the point of this post is to get ideas of where to go and what to do... im ultimately heading to nevada to live with my parents until i can get a job n support myself. im going to keep my eyes open for jobs between here and there just in case something seems interesting.

I feel like i have no direction. im just spinning my wheels here at the job im at now... i dont like it and its taking me nowhere.  I feel like i was meant for so much more than this, i have so mucgh more to offer the world than whaqt im giving at the moment.  ]\

Im gonna look for something between here n there so hopefully i wont even make it home.. anyone feel like putting me up for a night or 2 on my way back from the east ocast.
?
how would you go about findinhg a job between here n there? newspaper?

ok i gues this is long enough so imma end it here...

thanks for reading..

whoa, you are just going to head west and look for random jobs along the way?  I would put you up here, but I'm also moving 1,000 miles to the west this weekend.  best of luck!

Good luck to you both, but I hope you realize California is really hard up for jobs right now........... Dont expect to find work fast. The whole country is hurting for employment so be careful and remember to save money.
Also that whole thing about illegals taking jobs isn't a joke, service jobs are spoken for in a big way.
I'm considering leaving the west and heading back down south to find a job.

Work is hella tough to find everywhere. I have decent luck with a combination of craigslist, Labor Ready and Labor Works. Granted, I do do a lot of hard manual labor jobs, since I'm still a relatively young man... lol

Go finish school?
I know people deny it, but a college degree is powerful. And financial aid is a magical thing.

yeah, thats certainly true.  i dont mean to hijack the thread but i've got an undergrad degree in business.  I was thinking about going to grad school.  I'm going to spend the next few months just hanging out with some interesting people talking and reading with them to help figure this transition out.  plus go to lots of concerts and do a fair amount of psychedelics too.  my first lsd trip is only a couple weeks away.  :bigblunt:

yeah, i have my BS in animal science and a year towards my masters but it doesnt seem to be leading me into a career that really screams my name... maybe i could go back and get another undergrad degree?

basically my plan is to go home to nv and think on where my life is headed and where i want it to go.

i already planned my roadtrip cross country... heading up north to I 94 through ND and MT then finally through yellowstone and down 15.  got myh tent ready, my car tuned up, and im ready to peace out.

anyone living up that way that would be interested in chillin? even if its a little out of my way, i dont mind taking a detour... im planning on taking my sweet sweet time on this trip to think long n hard where in going...

If you made it all the way West to Seattle, I'm sure I could find time to kick it for a bit. But it doesn't sound like you're comin' this far...

I live in Vegas. Your just like weeks late as far as getting a job here. It's the best time of year for me because the World Series of Poker is in town. Some places need bodies so bad to deal, they are hiring unexperienced, unqualified dealers. You could possibly do that if your interested and get a little lucky since it late.

Hit me up if your passing through here.

So you are heading from where to Nevada? You said east coast but your location says Texas, so I wasnt sure

Sorry to hear about the depression, I know how that goes. This is probably the worst time of year to be in Nevada. It's going to be hot, if you arent already used to it

btw, I am in Phoenix. If you come through here maybe we could go do some camping :yesnod:

Damn, you have a BS and still cant find work? That is rough. I would definitely go back to school but I would focus on your masters instead of getting another undergrad degree. You should look into working at the zoo. They are always looking for people and with your degree, you should be a top candidate
