Click properties on C drive and it says I am using 140 of 270gb.
Go into C drive, show hidden folders, highlight all and hit properties. 93gb used.
Where is my other 47gb?
Running Vista, btw. Fuck Vista.

edit - you ninja editor you.
Right click C drive and it shows me 140gb used.
Open C drive, highlight all folders - hidden folders included - right click and it shows 93gb total size.
Where is the other 50 used GBs?

Maybe that number doesn't include system files, recycling bin reserved space, system restore points.
Maybe you partitioned your drive and didn't know it.
Can't think of anything else since I'm not familiar with vista, but there's probably a rational explanation.

My drive has a couple partitions, but it isn't counted in there. Drive size 298, 11.7 is recovery, 3.6 is Linux swap, 10.5 is for linux.
Leaves 272gb for windows. The 93gb includes the windows folder... I'll check the system save points. It's a brand new computer, though, so it shouldn't have many. Recycle bin takes up to 13 gb... however when I turned it off it didn't give me any additional space.

Try opening Disk Cleanup utility>more options>delete old restore points.
After that I bet the discrepancy will be in the 0-5 gig range.
EDIT: ok, sounds like you're on top of things

Oh, also, it may not be counting hidden files in your subfolders.

Bought it while I was back in Canada.
And been running Peer Guardian and a couple firewalls, as usual, since I got it. Shouldn't have too much Chinese propaganda.
Oh jesus christ, a brand fucking new computer and deleting the system restore points just got me 40gb.
Fucking vista. Turning that restore shit off like I did on XP - it's not like it's useful to me anyway.

Nope, I accounted for that. Don't have much music, but have 25+ gigs of movies to watch with the wife.
